“Don’t try to pull any tricks, or I’ll fire you once we’re outta here,” he said sternly. Then he turned on his phone’s flashlight, which illuminated the elevator instantly.

She bowed to him and kept apologizing. They say gravidity makes women stupid. She guessed it was true.

Finally, the elevator worked again. The second the doors opened, she ran out while lowering her head and soon vanished into the hallway.

Fumed, he rushed back home at once.
Madilyn was sharing the great news of her gravidity with Tiffany Romero, Vincent’s mother. Tiffany was beaming with a smile.

She rested her other hand on Madilyn’s abdomen. “The procedure was a success, and Madilyn is expecting already. You’ll get married tomorrow. And make sure her gravidity stays a secret, or who knows what they’ll do to the baby? We’ll announce it when Madilyn is about to give birth.”
Madilyn put on a bashful smile, but in fact, she was hatching a vicious plan. She had made up her mind–she’d kill Madeleine after Madeleine gave birth and took the baby away, taking the secret to her grave.
Vincent shot a cold glance at her and called over his subordinate. “Take her upstairs for a gravidity test.”
Utterly flustered, Madilyn almost fell off the sofa.
“Vincent, is this really necessary? Are you saying the hospital’s results are wrong?” She asked nervously.
“I want to verify it myself.” A cold glint flashed across Vincent’s eyes. His gaze was so piercing that it seemed he could see right through her.
Madilyn’s face turned pale gradually. “My stomach hurts. I wanna go home and lie down.”
She then stood up and wanted to leave, but Vincent grabbed her and ordered his subordinate to take her upstairs forcibly.
Soon, the results were out.
Madilyn wasn’t expecting. She burst into tears, murmuring, “I’m so sorry. The procedure failed. I didn’t want Tiffany to worry, so I lied.”
She would never tell them about Madeleine’s gravidity. What if Vincent married Madeleine?

Vincent gave her a skeptical look and asked his subordinate to look into it at the hospital. He knew Madilyn was full of tricks and didn’t believe a word she said.
“Mr. Romero, the procedure didn’t fail. The doctor made a mistake and implanted your genetic material into another woman. She’s already six weeks expecting.” Soon, his subordinate found out the truth and handed Vincent the woman’s file.
