Chapter 12 Let Me Take Over
Melissa’s POV:
I stared at him nervously, waiting for him to explain what his so–called “permanent solution” was.
“It is…”
He paused mid–sentence, then leaned in even closer, lowering his voice to a chilling whisper by my ear. “To remove your
uterus.”
“My … my uterus?”
I stumbled back in shock and collapsed onto the couch behind me. Shaking my head frantically, I pleaded, “No … I don’t want
that!”
If he took out my uterus, I’d never be able to have children for the rest of
There was no way I could agree to that.
my life.
“Adrian, are you the Alpha King of the werewolves, or are you just a monster?”
From the serious look on his face, I could tell he wasn’t joking. Not even a little.
He was the Alpha King of this continent, the highest authority among the werewolves, and strong enough to crush anyone in his path.
And me? I couldn’t even summon my wolf properly.
If he wanted to kill me, it would be as effortless as squashing a bug.
I hated these werewolves. Just because of their bloodline rankings, they could suppress anyone lower ranked–wolves and humans alike.
That was one of the reasons I never wanted anything to do with their world.
But now, no matter how scared I was, I had no choice but to face him.
I looked straight into his eyes, waiting for his response.
Adrian let out a cold laugh and casually pulled out his phone. He dialed a number. “Andy, call the hospital. Get an operating room ready for a hysterectomy….
He was serious.
“No! Not!”

Before he could finish the sentence, I shot to my feet, snatched his phone, and ended the call.
I couldn’t take it anymore. I was furious, humiliated, and terrified all at once. “You have no right!” I shouted, tears stinging my eyes. “Just because you’re the Alpha King, you think you can bully someone like me someone who doesn’t even have a wolf?
“And for the record, I don’t live in the werewolf world. So your rules don’t apply to me!”
I finally understood that pretending to be pitiful or innocent wouldn’t work with this man.
Because he wasn’t just heartless–he was cold–blooded.
“Whether I have the right or not… We’ll find out soon enough.”
Adrian yanked his phone back from my hands and started to walk away.
“Don’t go!”

I grabbed his hand and dropped to my knees with a thud, tears streaming down my face. “Alpha, please … You can’t do this. I don’t even know if I’m pregnant yet! But if I am–if I’m carrying your child–I swear I’ll get rid of it!”
At this point, I had no choice but to throw away my pride to protect what mattered.
Dignity meant nothing when your life was on the line.
I wasn’t strong enough to fight him head–on. The only card I had left… Was begging.
Flexibility was the one skill that had helped me survive in the lowest rungs of human society.
”
“You were just full of righteous anger a second ago,” Adrian said, gripping my chin firmly in his hand. “And now you’re down on your knees, begging? Tell me…” His voice was icy, “which version of you should I believe?”
“Alpha, it was your Grandma who drugged you. You slept with me. I’m the victim here–why should I be the one to suffer the consequences?”
I was furious, but I still tried to reason with him.
“You are something,” he sneered. “One minute you’re playing the helpless damsel, the next you’re fuming with righteous anger. Interesting.
“But I don’t owe you any explanations for what I do.”
He let out a dismissive laugh, then added coldly, “Just sit here and behave. Someone will come for you soon. Time for your surgery.”
P
With that, he pulled a tissue from the box and wiped the hand that had touched my chin, as if I were something filthy. Then he tossed the tissue into the trash and walked away without a second glance.
“Alpha?
“Alpha, can we talk about this?
“Adrian, don’t walk away!
“Adrian, you bastard! You piece of shit!”
I screamed after him as he walked out of the living room without so much as turning around.
Fuming, I dropped onto the couch and slapped at imaginary dust on my knees, then turned back toward the door and shouted again, “Asshole!”
I reached for my phone to call Camila, only to realize it was gone.
It hit me then–Adrian must have swiped it when he got close earlier. Of course he did.
I couldn’t just sit here and wait to be butchered. I had to escape.
I scanned the room and saw two tall, heavily built, high–ranking werewolf guards stationed at the door. There was no way I’d get out unless I could get them away.
Thinking fast, I grabbed a lighter from a drawer, lit a roll of toilet paper, and held it up near the sprinkler on the ceiling.

Within seconds, the fire set off the system. Sprinklers began spraying everywhere–soaking the living room, the guest
bedroom, the study, and the bathroom. The smoke detector started blaring.
I ran out of the bathroom, soaking wet but looking panicked.
“What happened?”
“Where’s the fire?”
The two werewolf guards rushed in, their faces tense.

“I don’t know!” I said, shaking my head frantically. “It’s terrifying…
“You check that side, and I’ll check here!”
“Got it!”

They immediately split up–one ran toward the bathroom, the other to the study.
Perfect.
I rushed for the door, heart pounding, only to find it locked.
I spun around and bolted to the window. But I was on the 38th floor. If I jumped now without any kind of support, I’d be nothing but a bloodstain on the ground.
Am I going to be locked up here and have my uterus taken out against my will?
That thought broke something in me. I slid down the wall and collapsed at the base of the window, hopeless.

And then I heard her. “Melissa, let me take over.”
It was Nancy.
