Chapter 11 Permanent Solution
Melissa’s POV:
It had been years since I turned 18, and my wolf still hadn’t awakened.
At one point, I truly believed I didn’t even have one.
So for her to awaken now, right when I was being kidnapped, was completely unexpected.
And I was beyond thrilled.
Nancy?
I tried calling out to her, hoping to figure out our rank, but there was no response.
Was that voice just my imagination?
I sighed in disappointment and glanced across at Andy, who sat stiffly with a serious expression. That’s when reality hit me Jagain.
I had barely stepped out of Harlow Mansion, and Adrian had already sent someone to grab me. He really didn’t waste any time.
“Andy, pull over right now, or I’ll call Mrs. Cami, la,” I threatened.
“I suggest you get a grip and stop making pointless threats,” he said coldly. “You don’t even have a wolf. Even if you used every ounce of strength in your body, you wouldn’t be a match for me.”
The disdain in his eyes made me grit my teeth.
I knew what he meant. He was a high–ranking Beta–stronger than most werewolf warriors. I didn’t stand a chance against him, not as I was.
And with my adoptive parents still being treated at the Harlows‘ hospital, I couldn’t afford to take any reckless chances.
About ten minutes later, they brought me up to the 38th floor of the Rainbow Lounge.
“Alpha, I’ve brought Ms. Cruise,” Andy announced as he pushed me forward, standing respectfully before the tall figure in front of me. “I’ll take my leave.”
Then he turned and exited.
I clutched the strap of my bag tightly, staring at Adrian, who sat on a couch, his laptop resting on his lap as he typed.
His gaze was fixed on the screen, those long, slender fingers dancing across the keyboard. Every inch of him radiated the natural authority of an Alpha King.
And that face… Flawless features, sharp and defined like they were sculpted by a god. Handsome enough to make your heart skip a beat.
Even though I was mad enough to imagine my newly awakened wolf fighting him, I still couldn’t help sneaking a few glances.
“You done staring?”
He snapped his laptop shut and set it aside, his icy eyes locking onto mine.
“Who’s staring at you?”
I quickly averted my gaze and scoffed, trying to sound defiant. “Don’t flatter yourself.”
Suddenly, he got up and walked straight toward me, leaning down until our eyes were level.
Do you think just because my grandma’s on your side, you can act however you want in front of me?” He said, his voice calm,

but the pressure radiating from him was intense. “Or do you think that because you’ve spent your life among humans, the rules of the pack don’t apply to you, even when you’re standing in front of the Alpha King?”
The calmness in his tone only made the weight in the air feel heavier, as if something deep in my bloodline was responding
to him.
No matter how badly I wanted to deny it, there was werewolf blood running through my veins. And in front of the Alpha King, some primal part of me couldn’t help but feel fear.
I swallowed hard. “No. Not.”
“Giving in so fast?” he sneered. “Weren’t you the one who said you were going to get pregnant with my child and marry me? Back at the mansion?”
He stared me down, the corner of his mouth twitching into a mocking smirk.
I wanted so badly to slap that smug look right off his face.
Too bad my wolf, who had just awakened, had gone completely silent again. There was no way I could take him.
“Haha…”
I forced out a bitter laugh, unconsciously taking a step back. I smiled sheepishly. “Alpha, don’t be mad. I was joking. Just messing around, you know?”
I kept backing away, but Adrian suddenly grabbed me by the collar and yanked me forward.
“I hate being threatened the most,” he growled. “Congratulations–you’ve succeeded.”
His eyes glowed crimson, wolf eyes staring into mine, cold and lethal. The raw power of the Alpha King weighed down on me like a crushing force. I could barely breathe.
My heart was pounding so hard I thought it would burst out of my chest. I forced a smile, trying to calm him down. “Alpha, I swear I was just joking…”
“Just because you said it was a joke doesn’t mean it was one.””
“Th… Then how do I prove it?” I stammered, completely panicked.
Adrian raised an eyebrow. “You want to prove that everything you said at the mansion was a joke?”
“Yes!”
Facing those terrifying crimson eyes, I genuinely felt like I was staring death in the face.
Desperate to survive, I nodded furiously. “Of course I do! Just tell me how.”
“Good.”
His expression finally softened a little. His lips curled into a faint, unreadable smile.
He leaned down, his lips just beside my ear. His breath was hot against my neck, sending a wave of tingling down my spine- but it chilled me even more.
I clenched my fists, my heart thudding wildly.
After a few long seconds, I finally heard him whisper. “I have a permanent solution.”
“Whr… What solution?”
