Chapter 7 The Will of the Moon Goddess
Melissa’s POV:
After being forcibly brought to Harlow Mansion, I immediately came up with an excuse to leave.
“Mrs. Harlow, it’s getting late. I need to take food to my parents at the hospital.”
Camila smiled kindly and said, “I’ve already had your parents transferred to the Harlows‘ private hospital. There will be professionals there to take care of them–you don’t need to worry.
“And the doctors at the werewolf hospital are the best in the world. Your parents will receive top–tier treatment.”
My expression darkened instantly. I shot to my feet, brows tightly furrowed. “You took my parents without permission- what, are you trying to use them to control me?
“I’m not part of your werewolf world. I don’t have to follow your ridiculous hierarchy or submit unconditionally to your will.” Camila didn’t get angry. Instead, she chuckled.
You’ve misunderstood. This is a fight between you and Adrian. It’s the will of the Moon Goddess.
“I gave Adrian the drug, yes–but with his Alpha King physique, he could have suppressed and recovered from it. However, if . the drug triggered him because of a certain woman, that woman would be the one the Moon Goddess chose for him.
“That means not only did he choose you, his wolf did too. You’re the mate chosen for him by the Moon Goddess.”
Hearing her explanation, I finally understood why Adrian had been drugged.
It was Camila’s doing. She was worried he’d never take an interest in any woman, so she forced the two of us together.
“I … ”

I had just opened my mouth to speak when a silver–haired butler walked in. “Mrs. Harlow, the Alpha has arrived.”
“Tell him to get in here. Now.”
“Yes, Mrs. Harlow.” The butler turned and left.

Moments later, Adrian stepped into the room in a silver–gray suit
He glanced at me, then turned to Camila and greeted her respectfully “Grandma.”
“You finally show your face, huh?” Camila said sharply, then gestured toward me.
“Perfect timing. Let me introduce you to …
”
But Adrian cut her off, “Grandma, no need. Let me introduce you to my mate first.”
“Mate?”
Camila froze, clearly taken aback.
I was even more stunned, and deep down, a wave of hurt welled up in my chest.
If Camila had just known a little more about Adrian, I never would’ve ended up giving my first time to a stranger, especially one I didn’t even like. A werewolf Alpha, no less.
“Come in.”
While I stood there, fuming, Adrian called from the door.
Then I saw her, wearing a pale blue, waist–fitted pleated dress, walking in with her head down and heels clicking on the marble floor.

That silhouette looked oddly familiar.
“This is the mate I’ve chosen–Leticia,” Adrian said to Camila.
The moment I heard the name Leticia, my mind went blank.
As I stared at her, Leticia lifted her head and looked at me, too.
Our eyes met, and neither of us could hide the shock in our gaze.
Why is it her?
What is she doing here?
“Isn’t this Ms. Leticia Dunne, the famously brilliant and beautiful Alpha heir of the Silverblood Pack?” Camila said, her voice laced with suspicion.
“What exactly did you do to convince her to pretend to be your mate?”
Camila’s sharp eyes pierced into Adrian.
Leticia quickly dropped the look of shock and scorn that had just flashed in her eyes when she saw me. She turned and greeted Camila politely. “Mrs. Harlow, it’s a pleasure.”
Camila gave her a cold nod but kept her focus locked on Adrian.
“A week ago, I was in a car accident. It was Leticia who saved me. When she pulled me out of the car, I gave her the Harlows‘ ancestral ring,” Adrian said calmly.
“Grandma, you know what this ring means.”
As he spoke, he raised his left hand and showed the black diamond ring on his finger.
I stared at the ring, and in that instant, it all came back to me. No wonder there had been a mysterious ring in my pocket after I’d rescued Adrian that day.
So that’s what happened–he must’ve slipped it into my pocket when I saved him:
But the next day, after Leticia showed up, the ring was gone.
и
I’d been confused at the time, wondering where it went. Now it all made sense. Leticia must’ve known the ring belonged to Adrian and stolen it.

I shot to my feet, pointed straight at the ring, and spoke coldly
