Chapter 2 Heirloom Ring
Melissa’s POV:
“I told you not to go around flaunting my face!”
Leticia bared her sharp wolf fangs at me, her voice seething with fury. “Do you want your pathetic human foster parents to die?”
I knew she was the Alpha heir–strong, dangerous, and trained to dominate.
But I wasn’t about to back down. Without hesitation, I slapped her across the face.
All this hierarchy and status in werewolf society? That means nothing to me.
I’ve never been the type to get bullied or cower before strength.
Besides, her little brother still needed my blood. I knew she wouldn’t dare push too far.
Leticia screamed, staggered back a step, clutching her cheek. “Melissa! You hit me?”
I shook out my stinging hand and smirked. “Yeah, I hit you. So what? I’m not one of your pack’s low–ranking mutts. What, did you think I was going to let you boss me around just because we share a face?”
“You had the nerve to show up at the Silverblood Pack’s hospital in the middle of the night, looking exactly like me … ” she spat. “And even used my name!
“I haven’t even picked my Alpha mate yet, and you’re out here dragging my name through the mud with some random man! Do you have any idea how that damages my reputation? Shouldn’t you at least feel sorry?”
Leticia jabbed a finger at me, practically shaking with rage. “If someone hadn’t told my dad this morning, I wouldn’t even know how many filthy, shameful things you’ve done with my face!”
“Your face?” I gave a bitter laugh, then scoffed as I looked her up and down.
What a joke. Same face, same blood–yet I’m not even allowed to show mine to the world.
Leticia must’ve read the contempt in my expression because her temper snapped. Her body tensed, eyes flashing. She was really about to shift–ready to turn into a wolf and come at me.
She let out a furious snarl and lunged … But her phone started ringing.
She paused, glanced at the screen, shot me one last death glare, and stepped aside to take the call.
Leticia’s POV:
I walked a few steps away with the phone in my hand. As I answered, something on the table caught my eye. A ring.
山
An old heirloom ring with a faded, almost unrecognizable totem. It looked oddly familiar.
“Hello, Leticia?” My mother’s voice–Zoe–brought me back to the moment.
“Mommy, what is it?” I asked.
“Oh. My. God. My sweet baby! When did you save Alpha King Adrian?”
She sounded ecstatic. “Why didn’t you tell me something so important? His Beta just came to our Silverblood Pack–he said Adrian wants to meet with you next week!”
I froze. My whole body started trembling from the sudden rush of adrenaline.
Alpha King Adrian? I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

My eyes landed back on the ring. It hit me then.
A year ago, I attended a debutante ball, and I still remember the girls gossiping about potential mates. They had passed around a photo of Alpha King Adrian Harlow. In it, he wore this exact ring.
This was his heirloom ring.
Which meant … The man Melissa dragged to the hospital last night… It was him.
And because Melissa hadn’t bothered with her ugly disguise last night, she went in looking exactly like me. She gave my name to the front desk. So now Adrian thought I was the one who saved him.
I’d accidentally become Alpha King Adrian’s “lifesaver“.
That was beyond perfect. Even more valuable than being heir to the Silverblood Pack.
“Mommy, I’ve got something to take care of. We’ll talk later.”
I hung up and tried to contain the wild excitement bubbling in my chest. While Melissa was distracted, I quietly slipped the ring off the table and into my pocket.
