Chapter 4
The moment the doors opened, my voice echoed through the venue via the microphone in front of me.
“I don’t.”

“Because there’s someone else I want to marry!”
Those words kept echoing through the hall, sending waves of chaos through the crowd.]
Under Ethan’s horrified stare, I dropped my bouquet, kicked off my heels, and ran without hesitation toward the man who’d promised to crash my wedding.
“Ethan, you should be marrying your baby mama. Count me out!“]
Hearing those words, Ethan’s face went from red to white, his eyes consumed by terror.
Right behind me, my parents walked over with dark expressions, grabbed him by the collar, and demanded angrily:]
“What’s Lily talking about? What baby? You have a kid?“[]
In some inconspicuous corner, a woman in a T–shirt and jeans went pale and collapsed.]
screams erupted throughout the hotel.
If standing on stage in a packed theater was the proudest moment of my life, then running away from my wedding in front of everyone was the most liberating moment of my life.
I felt like a survivor escaping from darkness, standing on a bus heading toward spring, waving and screaming at everyone and everything along the way.[]
Marcus held tight to my other hand, and those usually indifferent eyes of his were now filled with warm spring light.[]
The sports car drove through the bustling streets and finally stopped in front of the courthouse.[]
I hesitated for a moment and asked:
“We’re getting married right now?”
Marcus shrugged and looked at me innocently: “Ethan’s a total psycho. If we don’t get that marriage certificate today, he’ll probably show up at my place tonight with his crew to kidnap you back. Then we’d be screwed, wouldn’t we?“]
I might doubt other people, but knowing Ethan’s personality, he absolutely would do something like that.
1 unmediately dragged Marcus into the courthouse lobby.
After getting our marriage certificate, Marcus drove me straight to the Pierce family estate.
As expected, the usually quiet front gate was now blocked by a crowd of people.[]
Ethan had brought the Blackwood family along with a bunch of his buddies, and they’d stopped our car
Marcus rolled down the window, staring straight at Ethan with his usual casual tone.]]
right at the entrance.[]
“Well, well, if it isn’t Mrs. Blackwood and Mr. Blackwood himself. What brings you to my humble home?“[]
Seeing him still acting cocky, Ethan flew into a rage, his teeth clenched.[]
“Hand over Lily, Marcus, or I’ll never let this gol”
Watching Ethan’s face turn livid with anger, Marcus’s smile grew even more smug.[]
“Mr. Blackwood, haven’t we always been at each other’s throats? When have we ever let things go? You want to try something, bring it on–I’m ready for whatever you’ve got. As for Lily, she’s Mrs. Pierce now. I’d suggest you keep your distance.”
Ethan’s eyes were bloodshot with fury: “She’s my fiancée! When did she become your wife? Marcus, one crashed wedding and you’re already living in a fantasy?“]
Marcus pulled out the marriage certificate, flipped to the registration page, and stuck one hand out the window to show it around to everyone.[]
“Mr. Blackwood, don’t go around slandering me. Lily and I are legally married. Since everyone’s here, why don’t you all take a look at this marriage certificate we’re both pretty happy with? Fresh off the press, still warm.“[]
The certificate was stamped with an official seal.!]
The voices of Ethan’s lackeys started shaking
“Ethan, bro… that marriage certificate looks. legit.“]

Ethan’s face instantly went deathly pale.]]
He rushed forward and snatched the certificate away, flipping through it over and over, his eyes full of disbelief.]]
Unable to accept this reality, in his fury and desperation, he tore the document to shreds.
Marcus frowned and asked me pitifully: “Honey, what do we do? He tore up our marriage certificate.“]
“Don’t we have two copies?“]
Marcus put on an enlightened expression and smiled as he pulled out another fresh certificate, showing it off inside the car.]]
Now everyone should believe Lily and I are married, right? What happens between us as husband and wife is none of you outsiders‘ business.”
That line sounded familiar.
The delayed realization of pain surged through him, making Ethan cry out in anguish:[]
“Lily Carter! You planned this whole escape from the beginning, didn’t you?“]
Hearing his desperate roar, I admitted it openly.[]
“Yes. I planned it all along.”
