Chapter 11 Jealousy
My falling out with Lamar and Matilda was my fucked up
private life. I didn’t want to drag Terrell into this mess.
Lowering my eyes, I said to Matilda, “He was just stating the
fact. Matilda, you’ve been prepared to get berated for what
you’ve done.”
I looked at Terrell, sending him the signal to leave.
“Thanks for driving me home, Mr. Bauer. I need to take care of
something. You should go.”
Terrell didn’t budge.
However, when he saw my determined expression, he caved.
“Alright. Go to bed early. You can have the morning off
tomorrow.“”
My shift started at 8 am. But judging from the situation, I was likely to stay up all night.
After Terrell left, Lamar grabbed my arm and dragged me inside the house. He was blinded by his rage and forgot about
Matilda’s presence.

I smiled and said to Matilda, “What’s wrong? Aren’t you coming
in?”
Lamar probably figured out my routine. He brought Matilda
home because he assumed I wouldn’t be home.
If I didn’t change my mind and come back, they might be
cuddling in bed by now.
Matilda’s expression darkened, and she hurriedly ran over to
push me away from Lamar.
“Lamar, you walked too fast. I can’t keep up with you.”
Lamar’s expression softened magically, and he gazed at Matilda
gently.
“I was in a hurry to talk to her.”
Then, he glared at me. “Alexandra, you’re a real piece of work!”
Looked like they didn’t care enough to keep up their innocent
act in front of me.
I didn’t want to argue with them and walked inside without
them. I pressed the elevator button and went upstairs.
I combed my hair and washed my face. Feeling less tired, I
slouched on the couch.

Lamar and Matilda sat across from me.
I cut to the chase. “I’ll be staying in the hospital for the next
month. You can have the house. Have fun.”
We were all adults. There was no need to act coy. They must get
the message.
Matilda blushed.
She didn’t want to admit to being the other woman and tried to
defend herself.
“Xandra, although I like Lamar, I respect your decision.”
What a joke. Matilda was indeed shameless for coming up with such a righteous excuse.
Before I could retort to her, Lamar jumped in hurriedly.
“Mattie, no need to defend her.” He glanced at me and pursed his lips. With a frown, he said to me, “On the other hand, you’re bad for fooling around with that man. How dare you accuse me of cheating?
“Why would you move to the hospital now? You want to stay close to him, don’t you?”
His tone turned icy. “Alexandra, I didn’t know you were such a

slut before.
“Maybe this isn’t your first affair. I just didn’t catch you.”
I applauded for Lamar, not feeling angry at all.
I’d given up this hopeless marriage a long time ago. No matter
what Lamar said, it wouldn’t hurt me.
“Mr. Stafford, whatever you say. I’m merely informing you of
my decision, not asking for your opinion.”
I stood up and yawned, heading toward my room.
“I’m tired and need to rest. Knock yourself out.””
Matilda grabbed Lamar’s hand to stop him. But Lamar threw
her hand off and lunged at me, pinning me to the corner.
“Alexandra, what’s the meaning of this? I demand you to
explain!”
His eyes were red, and veins in his temples bulged.
“You’ve changed so much. Is it because that man set you against
me?”
I tilted my head and smiled at Matilda while saying to Lamar,
“Lamar, why are you angry? Are you jealous?”
