Chapter 50
Then I raised my hand and turned on the large screen behind us.”
“Caedric, take a good look at the evil you’ve done.“}
The footage lit up on the hospital ward.”
There was Caedric, hurriedly lifting his son out of the crib and stepping out, only to return moments later with a different baby in different wrappings. The change was obvious.
I had followed him quietly to the third floor. The surveillance footage captured everything through the gap in the door. Caedric’s deep voice played from the recording.
“Sandra, thank you for your hard work. The baby is beautiful. I’ve already handed her over to Giselle. He’ll be the legitimate eldest grandson of the Arclayne Group and the future heir of the Arclayne Group.”
Sandra’s weak voice responded, “Husband, I can’t bear to let go of my son. The thought of never seeing him again… I’d rather die.”
“Don’t worry. It will only take eighteen years. Once our son inherits the Arclayne Group, I’ll make sure you reunite with him. By then, you’ll be the rightful Mrs. Arclayne.”
“What about Giselle? Do you think she’ll ever forgive us?”
A flash of cold malice appeared on Caedric’s face in the video.
“She’s the one who ruined our happiness. If she doesn’t cause trouble, we’ll part peacefully. But if she steps out of line, I won’t hesitate to send her exactly where she belongs.“}
“No matter how powerful the Mirelin Family is, they won’t be able to trace someone who supposedly committed suicide due to depression.”
“What about this child? I’m afraid I won’t be able to care for him properly. What if something happens…”
“Just do the bare minimum. Don’t wear yourself out. If he dies, then it’s just his own bad luck. I only have one child and that’s our Elion.”
On the screen, the two people were shown kissing.
There was an audible gasp in the room, followed by a shocked exclamation.
“Miss Blake gave birth to Mr. Arclayne’s child?“}
I fast–forwarded the footage. On–screen, I could be seen rushing into the room, switching the babies back and then running down to the second floor with my son in my arms.
My voice rang out, calm and unwavering, “Caedric, your and Sandra’s son shouldn’t be named Victor.”
“If you two run now, you might still catch a glimpse of his ashes. Otherwise, your people will really throw them into the trash, just like you specifically instructed.”}
“My child!” Sandra screamed and collapsed on the floor in a faint.}
Everyone around us stood frozen in shock. Even my father–in–law, who had seen much in his life, was utterly stunned.
Caedric’s face turned ghostly pale. He stared ahead and muttered to himself in disbelief.
“No… this… this can’t be real. Victor was the illegitimate child you gave birth to. Elion is the child Sandra and I had…“}
