Violet’s POV
I woke up groggy, my head heavy as I blinked at the ceiling. It
took a second to register where I was.
Asher sat beside me, holding my hand. My mother was nearby.
Asher leaned in a little. “Hey,” he said softly. “How are you
feeling?”
“Slightly heavy,” I nodded slowly. “What time is it?”
“Evening,” he said. “You were out most of the day!”
His thumb moved across the back of my hand gently. I looked
at him, remembering everything–the fight, the truth about the
medicine, the deception through which he wanted to kill my
baby. But before I could react, I noticed the chill in his hand and
frowned. “Asher. why is your hand so cold?”
He didn’t say anything.
I looked at him again. His eyes lowered. He wasn’t going to
answer me.

“It’s because he’s given you too much of his blood,” my mother
said, her voice quiet.
My heart dropped. I turned to her quickly. “What?”
“He’s been doing it to keep you and the baby stable. But it’s
starting to take a toll on him.” She continued.
I stared at Asher, seeing how pale he looked, and for a moment,
I felt at a loss. This was my fault. Tears welled up in my eyes, but Asher simply patted my hand gently, comforting me, “I’m
fine. Compared to your and the baby’s safety, this is nothing.”
“I’m sorry,” I said, my voice trembling. I could feel it–compared
to before, his movements were slower, his strength had
weakened significantly.
“The one who should be sorry is me.” Asher leaned forward,
paused for a moment. “I’m sorry for everything. For what I tried to do with the child. I was scared. I thought I was going to lose you.” His hand squeezed mine. “You have no idea what it would
do to me if I did.”
I couldn’t say anything for a moment.
The pain in my chest felt like a knot, tightening with every word. I knew what he’d done. I’d felt betrayed, furious. But
Chapter 194
sitting here now, seeing him like this, I finally understood.
He’d made the worst choices out of love.
“I don’t want to lose either of you,” he said quietly. “But if I had
to choose, I’d choose you every time.””
I pressed a hand over my eyes. “You should’ve told me. We
could’ve figured this out together.”
He let out a breath. “I didn’t want to put more on your
shoulders. You were already dealing with so much.”
“I still am.” I looked up at him, my throat burning. “But now we
do this together.”
He nodded slowly.
“No matter what, I won’t allow you to keep hurting yourself.””
Seeing how weak he was, I said firmly, “If this continues, you
will die.”
“I will,” he said simply. “If it meant you’ll live.”
The words landed hard. I’d been so caught up in my own pain,
my betrayal, that I hadn’t seen what this had been doing to him.
Chapter 194
I turned to my mother. “There has to be another way. I can’t
choose. If I lose this baby, I.” My voice broke, and I didn’t finish.
My mother stepped forward again. “There might be.”
I looked at her, barely breathing.
Charlotte looked over her shoulder and nodded.
That’s when the door opened, and my siblings walked in.
Michael. Julia. Jayden.
I sat up straighter.
Charlotte met my gaze. “Your wolf craves the blood of your
mate the most. But high–magic blood from your bloodline–it
could ease the burden. At least enough to help you hold on.”
“What does that mean?” I asked.
“Starting today, the family will take turns. Their blood will help
control the hunger,” she said. “It’s not perfect, but it could give
Asher time to recover.”
I looked at them–my brothers, my sister. None of them
hesitated. They were ready.
Chapter 194
Michael stepped forward first. He didn’t say much, just rolled
up his sleeve and looked at me.
We hadn’t really spoken since he was confined to the
Nightshade Pack. A lot of things had gone unspoken between
- us.
Michael stepped closer without saying much. He knelt by the
side of the bed and picked up the dagger from the table. With
one smooth motion, he sliced his forearm, letting the blood drip
freely into the bowl beside him.
“This is how it was meant to be,” he said, watching the blood
pool. “You were always going to be the first among us to
become a mother.” Michael continued, calm and certain.
“There’s a reason the Moon Goddess chose you. You’ve always
had that kind of heart. The kind that holds people together.“”
My throat tightened. I didn’t know what to say. I just watched
the blood, hesitating, still unsure if my body could take it. But
Charlotte gave me a nod, and I leaned forward.
The moment Michael’s blood touched my lips, I felt the
difference. My body didn’t flinch. There was no pain, no violent reaction–just a steady warmth that spread through me. My wolf stayed quiet for now.
Chapter 194
I sat back, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand. “Thank
you.”
Michael nodded once, his voice low. “You’re going to inspire a
lot of people, Violet. Not just as Queen–but as a mother.”
I reached for his hand and we just embraced for a few seconds,
reconciling with the past.
A while later, Asher helped bandage Michael’s arm, then
returned to my side.
I could already feel the difference. The hunger that usually
gnawed at me by now was quiet. My wolf settled more easily.
Charlotte stepped back, a bit of relief flickering in her eyes.
When it was all over, Asher held my shoulders, took a deep breath, and then announced to everyone.
“Xavier returned yesterday.”
“He’s back?” I asked him, surprised.
Asher nodded. “And he brought something. A lead.”
“What kind of lead?”
Chapter 194
“There’s a plant. Silvermoon Grass. It’s rare and dangerous to
find, but according to legend, it can undo ancient vampire
curses.” Asher’s voice was steady, but as his mate, I could feel
his excitement. This was good news.
I stared at him, barely breathing.
“It grows in Bear Clan territory. I’ve already sent word to Alpha Jason. He’s on his way!”
