“No. Not the mother instinct.” Philip sighed, “You had a bad
reaction to The Mix’s blood.”
“The royal council was right.” Asher said grimly. He looked as
though he wanted to murder someone.
Jayden almost jumped to his feet out of shock, “THE MIX?
What the hell is that?”
“Half–human, half–magic. Violet, you, me and Michael.we all
are.
If we’re ever injured, if we bleed. it could kill anyone who’s
been exposed to magic.”
Charlotte’s eyes widen, and so did mine. I couldn’t move for a
long time, the weight of their words hitting me hard. So this
was the royal council told them?
“How’s this possible?” Charlotte asked, breathing rapidly. “My
own children’s blood.it can hurt me? It doesn’t make any
sense. And how could I not know the entire time?”
“Like you said, you didn’t spend much time with us. It’s only
natural that you didn’t know,” Jayden said sharply.
I knew he was still holding his grudge. But I also wanted to keep
it fair, “The elders had keep this as a secret. Apparently nobody
knew except for them.”
“That’s right. And our blood doesn’t just hurt you, anyone who
practices magic is vulnerable to our blood.” Philip looked at
Charlotte, “It’s actually a relief that you didn’t bring us back to
your pack years ago. We’d be a huge danger to your people”
Suddenly my heart started racing. Hope surged up in me.
“Well there you have it!” I stood up, my voice rising high. “We
found it. The one thing we can use to weaken Isaac! My blood.
Right? Then what are we still waiting for?”
They all looked at me, their gaze heavy. Asher’s face twisted
with frustration as he gritted, “Have you thought of the danger
that might put you in? You can’t just go there and rick your
life.”
“I can fucking drain myself to death if that’s what I have to do
to save Mia.” I told him without hesitation.
Mia was everything. I would literally give up my life for her.
“Let’s not rush into this.” Philip said, “We need a plan. Don’t
forget about the magic barrier that Isaac created. We have to
find a way to go around it.”
Charlotte went quiet, her face thoughtful. “There might be a
way,‘ she said slowly. “But I can’t bring her to you. I need to
return to my pack to do that.”
Yet Jayden stepped forward and stopped her, his voice hard,
“Wait. There’s one more thing we need to figure out before we
leave. How the hell did Isaac get his hands on the Celestine
Bloom in the first place?”
“Good question. I do need to find the traitor-”
“Apparently you are the only one who can come and go as you
please from your pack to the outside world.”
Charlotte’s face stiffened, her eyes narrowed, “What’s your
point?”
I got Jayden’s point completely. So I asked her the question on
his behalf, “Were you the one who gave Isaac the Celestine
Bloom?”
Violet’s POV
I could feel the weight of Charlotte’s gaze as she stood there,
looking at me with shock and a tinge of sadness. I knew our

skeptics hurt her. But I agreed with Jayden’s logic. She was
indeed the only one with a way to do it.
“Absolutely not,” Charlotte said, her voice low and unwavering.
“I did not give the Celestine Bloom to anyone. And certainly not
Isaac! I know the consequences of that flower falling into the
wrong hands. I would never do something like that.”
She sounded seriously offended by the idea. Asher nodded. He
seemed to believe her. “There’s a traitor in your pack then. You
need to find this one before he or she does further damage.”
“I know.” Charlotte clenched her fists, “That’s the first thing I’ll
do when I get back.”
Actually I couldn’t care less about the traitor. Finding that
person didn’t help us rescue Mia. We had no time for this
meaningless discussion anymore. Can’t they see that the clock
was ticking? My daughter was still in danger! I couldn’t afford
to waste time.
I had to do something.
I couldn’t just sit around and wait for Charlotte to find a way to
break Isaac’s barrier. It took too long. I would do things my way.
“What if we use Kylie?” I suggested, my voice cracking slightly,

betraying my frustration. “She’s still in contact with Isaac. I
knew it. We can use her to lure Isaac out of his shell. It’d be
easier this way than breaking his barrier by violence.””
Asher’s face twisted into a scowl, his distrust of Kylie obvious.
“Kylie? Are you serious? That woman is nothing but trouble!
She betrayed you once, and you’re thinking of asking for her
help again?“.
