Chapter73

Asher sensed the tension between us. So he did most of the

talking after we settled down in Charlotte’s office, explaining

Isaac’s attack and his sudden disappearance with Mia.

Charlotte listened carefully, her expression growing more

concerned with every word.

When Asher finished, she shook her head, her brows knitting

together.

“This doesn’t make sense,” she said grimly. “Magic isn’t

something that can be used freely. Only chosen wolves are

born with it, and even then, it cannot be used for evil purposes.

The magic would reject the wielder.”

“Are you sure? But that’s not what we have been witnessing

lately” Jayden chimed in and said, “There are reports of rogues

disappearing into thin air, just like Isaac did. At first, we

thought they were just rumors, but now…” He trailed off, his

voice heavy.

Charlotte’s face suddenly turned pale, her eyes widening.

No,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “That’s

impossible.”

“What’s impossible?” I asked, my frustration bubbling over. “Do

you know how Isaac and the rogues learnt magic? What are

you not telling us?”

She hesitated, then turned to me, her expression grave. “If Isaac

is truly using magic like this, he must have something that

grants him that power. There’s only one thing that could do

that–Celestine Bloom.”

“Celestine Bloom?” I repeated, the words foreign and

meaningless to me. “What is that?”

Charlotte’s gaze flicked to Asher and Jayden, then back to me.

“It’s a flower. A rare and powerful one that grows only here,

within the borders of the Nightshade Pack. Its magic is

unimaginable. Whoever possesses it can bend reality itself. It’s

the only way to get magic if you aren’t the chosen ones. But it’s

more than that–Celestine Bloom is nearly indestructible. It’s

why my pack has lived in isolation for so long. We’ve spent

generations guarding it, making sure that it never falls into the

wrong hands.”

“So you are basically like prisoners. Don’t you ever hate it?”

couldn’t help but ask.

She paused, and her face went blank for a moment, like she had

let some ancient memories take her away.

“Of course I hated it.especially when I was about your age, still

young and fearless.” she smiled a weak and bitter smile. “I ran

away from home, wanting to explore the big, beautiful outside

world. I wandered around for months and found myself in a

pack called Silvermoon Pack.”

I noticed Jayden shifted uneasily in his seat. Because

Silvermoon Pack was our pack, where our father used to serve

as Beta

“And that’s when I met your father and fell crazily in love.

That’s the happiest 7 years of my life. Till.” she inhaleda pained

look on her face. “.till my parents passed away and there’s no

one left to guard the Celestine Bloom. The others can’t do it.

Only the offspring of the Alpha can guard the flower. So I was

left with a difficult choice-”

“To fulfill your duty, or stay in Silvermoon Pack with your

children.” Jayden completed her sentence, murmuring. “And

you chose the former.”

“The royal council threatened me that if I left the guardian’s

seat empty, they would throw all of my members into prison. I

can’t ignore all those people. My people!”

“Yeah you already covered that part the last time we met,” I

mumbled, refusing to meet her gaze.

“It’s something I have to do. I don’t have a choice.”

“Yet you have not done a very good job because Isaac still got

the flower, and he was using it to hurt my daughter.” I said

tartly.

A deathly silence fell on us. Jayden was giving me the frown

from across the table but I ignored him. What I said was mean.

But Charlotte deserved it every bit.

“Yes, you are right. I do feel.responsible.” her voice was laced

with regret and pain when she spoke up again. “I will help you

trace him down. Following the signs of magic.”

“It can’t be traced. Isaac created a magic barrier. That’s why we

lost all traces of him.”

Charlotte frowned, her face turned greyish.

“What? Oh don’t tell me there’s more bad news?” I snapped, not

Chapter

sure if my heart could take it anymore.

Charlotte hesitated, her eyes darting to the ground. “If he’s able

to create a magical barrier, that changes everything. It means

he’s not just in possession of the bloom. He must also have… a

direct descendant of my grandfather.”

“What does that mean?” Jayden asked, his voice sharp. “Are you

saying he’s using someone from your family to power this

magic?”

“Yes. Only a direct descendant of my grandfather can channel

the bloom’s power. Isaac must have found one of them and is

using their bloodline to sustain his abilities.”
