Lily’s lunch was still a special meal prepared by Louis.
Louis made it extra light because starting tonight, Lily would need to fast for 10 hours to prepare for tomorrow’s surgery.
After eating, she lay in bed to digest, and Louis carefully lay down beside her, inching closer.
The warmth from his body seeped into her, and Lily squeezed her legs together, trying to control her emotions.
“You’re getting really comfortable lying in my bed,” she complained.
“What’s wrong with laying here? You’re my mate! Louis replied, sounding smug, though his face flushed red.
Ever since Lily acknowledged their mate bond, Louis had become bolder in his actions.

On the day of the surgery, Louis’s cousin Lucy took the day off to visit Lily at the hospital, bringing Cici along.
Louis had been so busy taking care of Lily, who was about to undergo surgery, that he often relied on Lucy to help

Confused, Lucy stared at Lily.

“N–nothing…“Lucy stammered, shaking her head. She knew now wasn’t the time to delve into the true nature of things. especially since Lily was about to go into surgery.
Her mind was a mess as she watched the doctors wheel Lily away for her pre–op exam. She looked down and sent a message
to her friend Sam.
“Sam, you said Alpha Michael’s mate died, right?”
“Why are you still on about this?” Sam quickly replied. “But yeah, it’s true. I’ve heard so much since then! Apparently, Alpha Michael’s lover committed suicide, and afterward, he’s been in and out of therapy. His mental state isn’t great, and colleagues. say he frequently visits the psychologist for medication…
Lucy felt a heavy pit in her stomach. She watched Lily’s retreating figure, a wave of sadness washing over her as she picked up Cici, who was standing by her legs, and sighed.

“Daddy?” Cici tilted her head, thinking for a long moment. “Isn’t Daddy just Uncle Louis?”
Although she was Louis’s cousin, Lucy wasn’t very familiar with the dynamics between Louis, Lily, and Cici.
