Violet’s POV
“Violet, wake up!”
I opened my eyes still half asleep and found Jayden standing by
my side.
“What is wrong?” I whispered, not wanting to wake up Mia.
“Where is Asher?”
Jayden gestured me to follow him. I quietly slipped out of bed
and followed him to the hallway. Under the bright light outside, I
finally saw that he was covered in steaming blood.
I let out scream, covering my mouth, “God! What the hell
happened!”
“You need to come with me,” he said urgently, dragging me to the
front door. “Hurry! His dad will be there in an hour. But we don’t
have that much time. You might be the only person who can stop
him right now!”
I staggered down the staircase with him, “Is it Asher?!”
“Yes!” He dashed across the foyer with me, “He got a letter from
the rogues and was infuriated by it. He has totally gone into the
mad side now!”
Once we were outside, Jayden shifted into his wolf. I didn’t have
a wolf, so he carried me on his back and sprinted forward.
Moments later, we arrived at the scene. First we heard long howl,
and then we saw a dozen of soldiers with a half–shifted werewolf
in the middle.
His whole body was covered in fur, but he remained in his
human form. His bared long fangs and pointy sharp claws told us
that he was very aggressive at the moment. He was glaring at the

soldiers around him, his eyes giving a horrifying, blood–thirsty
gleam.
I jumped down from Jayden’s back and ran to him. Jayden
rushed to stop me, “Wait! You can’t go to him like that. He will
tear you apart!”
I knew that this creature was Asher. He was a member of the
royal family. His noble bloodline guaranteed his power, but it
was also the most dangerous thing when he lost control.
Now anger had made him lapsed into the madness. He had lost
his human side. He would attack anyone who dared come close
to him, including his family and friend.
I gulped and carefully approached him.
The giant black creature fixed its eyes upon me once I got close
enough. Its red eyes were terrifying. I couldn’t help but winced.
It was Asher. I kept telling myself. It was OK. He wouldn’t hurt

Then I took a small step forward.
The creature arched its back and huffed. It seemed irritated, but
it didn’t attack me.
“Violet. Too close!” Jayden hissed behind my back.

I went even closer to the giant creature and stretched out a hand

looked at me was different from the way he looked at the

“Make an opening for me to the west,” I said to the soldiers,

I had dashed to the north side. The soldiers parted and let me
through.
An ear–splitting howl came behind my back. Then there was the

Asher’s POV
There was something looming in the darkness, staring at us. I
snapped my eyes open and looked for it. Yet before I found
anything, Violet’s sharp scream brought my attention back.
“Violet!”
I immediately went to check on her. She was lying on the ground,
unconscious. I checked her entire body and didn’t find any
injuries. She probably passed out because I marked her.

“You marked her!!” she shrieked, her face twisting with anger and
disbelief. “How could you!”
“Violet is my mate. Of course I am going to mark her. And she
will become my Luna one day. You should get used to it,” I said in
a slightly irritated tone.
Kylie was starting to get on my nerves. Neither me nor Violet
owed her anything. But she seemed to hold both of us
accountable.
This had to stop.
“Get used to it? NEVER! Because I am your Luna!” she cried, her
angry voice echoing in the hallway. “I gave you the best 7 years
of my life! and then you just tossed me away like trash for that
Violet. This isn’t fair!”
“I didn’t ask for this, Kylie. Your parents pushed our marriage to
happen. There weren’t any real sparkles between us even at the
beginning.”
She shook her head, sobbing, “Not that isn’t true.Everyone knows
that we are a perfect couple. I love you.”
“We kept up the perfect appearance in front of the pack
members. But that was it. Stop lying to yourself Kylie. You
should have sensed that our marriage wasn’t working even
before Violet came back to town.”
“That was because you never really cared about me! You are
always so cold, so distant and aloof. If you bothered to know me a
bit better, you would discover that I was way more lovable than

I was starting to get sick of circling on the same top with her. So I

“I only married you to keep you from killing yourself. I tried to
love you, but I failed. Nothing happened between us in the past.
And nothing will.”
She opened her mouth to scream at me again, but I cut her off

“If you raise your voice again, I will have people remove you
forcefully. Remember that I am still your Alpha.”
She covered her mouth and trembled in tears. I stood up and
went to check on Violet. But she followed behind me.
“Violet lied to you. She betrayed you! Are you really going to
choose a liar with no sense of loyalty as your lover and wife? You
deserve better!”
I halted abruptly in my tracks and shot a glare at her, “I don’t
mind that. And this will be the last time you foul mouth her. Or I
swear to the Moon Goddess that I will have you punished for it.”
She froze on her stop.
Her cheeks flushed. There was a mixed emotion of sorrow and
rage in her eyes.
“I will never forgive you.” She gritted in a venomous tone. “You
and Violet. I won’t let you live happily ever after while I am in
hell. Don’t even dream about it.”
Her threat meant nothing to me.
After this talk, I was officially done with her. I wished her all the
best and I hoped she could find her destined one as well. But my
responsibility for her ended today.
I walked away from her without hesitation. She kept crying
behind me. But I didn’t even look back.
Violet was still sleeping in her ward. I closed the door behind me
and carefully made my way to the bed side gazing down at her.

“What is it?” I asked. She didn’t get scared easily. So it must be bad.
“What I saw in the woods.it had your eyes!” she gulped, “Did you
feel it, Asher?”
I nodded. I sensed something looming in the darkness, watching
- us. But I thought it was just a bear or something.
“It has my eyes? Are you sure?”
“Yes. Dark reddish eyes. Like when you lost control earlier.”
I frowned.
