Chapter 6
As the truth unraveled piece by piece, Filbert’s expression grew darker and more menacing.
The more grateful he had once been to Nancy, the more violently he now wanted to destroy her.
He ground his teeth and barked out, “Where’s the evidence? I want to see it.”
The bodyguard respectfully handed him my phone.
Filbert flipped through the contents with intense focus.
Alongside the full video of his rescue during the earthquake, he also found years‘ worth of taunting texts from Nancy sent to me.
Only then did he finally realize just how badly he’d messed up.
He hadn’t just mistaken a manipulative, scheming woman for his savior— he had also grievously wronged the real one.
Felicia had been telling the truth all along. Nancy had deliberately ruined their wedding.
She had staged every incident. Felicia had been completely innocent.
The memory of how he had treated Felicia in the past few days, combined with the image of her hopeless, shattered gaze, hit him like a wave. Guilt and regret engulfed him.
He slapped himself hard across the face.

Just then, the front door burst open.
His eyes lit up with hope. “Felicia?”
But when he saw it was Nancy who walked in, that light died instantly.
Nancy hadn’t sensed the shift in the atmosphere.
She looped her arm around his, all smiles and sweetness.
“Filbert, let’s go on a vacation, okay? It’s been so long since we had a break.”
Filbert shoved her away with clear disgust.
“Vacation? Nancy, don’t you have anything else to say to me?”
Startled by his tone, Nancy’s eyes widened in disbelief.
She had no idea why his attitude toward her had changed so drastically, but a creeping unease rose inside her.
Cautiously, she asked, “Filbert, what’s wrong?”
Then, a thought struck her. She quickly added, “Did you find Felicia? Did she say something to you? Filbert, you can’t believe a word she says- she’s just jealous that I saved your life-”
Before she could finish, Filbert lunged forward and grabbed her by the throat.
His eyes were cold as ice. “You still dare to mention saving my life? Take a good look for yourself.”
He flung her to the floor and threw the phone at her.
The moment Nancy saw the video, terror flooded her face.

She looked up, trying to play the pitiful victim like she always had. “Filbert, please, let me explain-”
“Explain?” he cut her off. “With all the evidence right here, what’s left to explain?
“You pretended to be my savior–fine, I might’ve forgiven that. But why the hell did you have to frame Felicia? Why push us apart like that?”
He narrowed his eyes. “And the call to my parents back then–was that you too?”

Nancy panicked and shook her head violently.
“Filbert, I don’t know what you’re talking about! What call? I didn’t—”
But Filbert no longer believed a word she said. He immediately ordered the bodyguards to restrain her.
All this time, Nancy had watched Filbert torment Felicia, fully aware of what she had done.
Now, as the tables turned and she became the one being dragged away by force, fear finally gripped her.
She screamed, her voice shrill with desperation. “Filbert! I did all this because I love you! I just wanted to be with you!
“Felicia only showed up a little earlier than me! Why should she be the one to marry you? Filbert, you love me too, don’t you?
“Now that Felicia is finally out of the picture, we can be together for real! Aren’t you happy?”
Filbert slapped her across the face.
“Love you? If you hadn’t tricked me into believing you were my savior, I

wouldn’t have spared you a single glance!
“My wife is Felicia–she’s the only one. For every bit of pain you caused her, you’ll suffer ten times worse.”
Nancy trembled under the weight of his fury and disdain.
Tears streamed down her face as she collapsed, clutching at his legs. “Filbert, please–I was wrong, I know I was wrong! Just give me one more
chance!
J’I’ll disappear, I swear! I’ll stay away from you and Felicia forever!”
She thought humbling herself would soften his heart.
After all, she’d been by his side for three whole years.
But she had forgotten–Filbert had never been a kind man.
Without a flicker of emotion, he ordered the guards, “Take her to the rooftop.”
As she was dragged away, hands bound, and pushed toward the rooftop edge, the horror on Nancy’s face turned into hysterical laughter.
“You think killing me will fix things? Even if I die, Felicia will never forgive you!
“You humiliated her at the wedding–over and over again! If I were her, I’d rather die than ever see you again!”
