Chapter 10
Jadeana rolled her eyes. “I knew Camilla was tough to deal with.
See how ruthless she is? I bet she’s gonna be a huge pain in the
ass in the future.”
Edward looked up at the closed door and had someone lift him
to the guest bedroom next door to rest.
Jadeana followed behind him while nagging, “This isn’t over.
Trust me–she’ll make your life miserable. To get her off your
back, you’d better leave Aurora and Nicholas alone. It’s what’s
best for you.”
Edward was utterly irritated, and his backside hurt.
Irked, he snapped impatiently, “Jadeana, go home to take care of your family and get some rest. I’m fine with Dr. Waid here. I
know I’ve made a mistake. Believe me–Kenny and the others
won’t have a chance to come back.
Though Jadeana was still displeased, she said nothing and stood
up to leave.
In the dead of the night, everything was quiet. Jeffrey dozed in a
chair next to Edward.
Chapter 10
Edward’s back was in so much pain that he couldn’t sleep no
matter what. He struggled to take out his phone, wanting to
apologize to Camilla.
But in the next second, he saw a bunch of missed calls and
WhatsApp messages from Aurora, asking him when he’d go
back to the hospital. She even sent him pitiful pictures of
Nicholas in bed receiving an IV drip.
He was about to call her back when he glanced at the time.
Realizing it was late, he replied to her on WhatsApp.
“Aurora, Camilla is upset. I gotta coax her, so I won’t come. Take
care of Nico. I’ll go and check on him once I can.”
At the sight of his message, Aurora was furious. She sat by the
bed while clutching the phone, her face twisted in resentment.
called him early the next morning.
“Edward, Nico is done with his IV. I’ve been waiting for ages but
still can’t get a cab. Could you come over and pick us up?”
In the next second, Nicholas‘ pitiful voice rang out. “Edward, can
I see you?”
It was such a long night for Edward. Due to the agony, he barely
slept, and being jolted awake at dawn made him even more

irritable. He moved slightly, only to gasp because of the sharp
pain in his backside.
Enduring the pain, he took a deep breath and said, “I’m sorry,
Aurora, but I can’t come. Wait at the hospital entrance while I
send someone over.”
Noticing something off in his voice, Aurora asked nervously,
“What happened, Edward? You mentioned that Camilla was
upset. Was it because you came over last night? Should I come
over to apologize?”
As Edward thought of Kenny and his family, he said
impatiently, “That won’t be necessary. Just take care of Nico.“”
Meanwhile, the sharp pain in his backside was so insufferable
that he kept gasping.
Worried about him–her lifelong provider, she said hastily,
“Something must have happened. No way. I’m so worried about
you. I’ll take Nico over right now!”
“I mean it, Aurora. I’m fine. Take Nico back to rest. Camilla is still
upset. If she gets worked up, I’ll get beaten up again.”
Camilla’s hand on the doorknob paused. She was going to see
how Edward was doing, and as she heard his words, she smiled
with contempt and closed the door.
Chapter 10
Camilla went downstairs unhurriedly, ready to get breakfast.
Stuart Kemp, the housekeeper, stood aside along with the
servants, keeping their heads down, not wanting to set her off.
Last night, she stood alone against everyone, hurling barbs at
them harshly, leaving everyone intimidated.
