Chapter 41
Alex’s nostrils flared.
His grip on the rod tightened.
His gaze dropped to my abdomen.
“This is for your own good, Lia, he growled, his voice low and menacing.
“Once your womb is barren, Mother will
have no reason to force this mating. We can finally be free of each other.”
With a vicious snarl, he swung the rod with all the force.
The air split with a deafening crack as it collided with my stomach.

A searing pain, like a thousand silver blades, tore through my insides.
I felt something within me rupture, a primal force shattering under the impact.
Blood welled in my mouth, a warm, metallic tide that spilled over my lips and trickled down my thighs, staining the ground beneath me.
The last thing I heard was the triumphant howl of the pack, mingling with Sadina’s sickly sweet laughter.
Then, everything faded to black.
Consciousness returned in a haze of pain and confusion.
The familiar scent of wolfsbane – infused ointment stung my nostrils as I blinked open

my eyes, only to find myself surrounded by the opulent silk – draped walls of the palace
Luna’s soft, lilac – scented presence filled the room as she rushed to my bedside.
“Alex has gone too far this time,” she huffed.
“To nearly destroy your sacred Lycan womb just to avenge that Sadina… The healers said it was a hair’s breadth from being beyond repair.”
A shudder ran through me as I thought of Alex’s brutal attack.
The Luna’s words about my “sacred Lycan womb” only added to my despair.
“If your womb had been lost, she continued, “what would we do when the time comes for you to fulfill the ancient prophecy and gift

Alex with an heir? He’s still young and needs a true – born successor.”
I kept my head bowed, my fingers digging into the thick quilt.
Seeming satisfied with my submissive demeanor, Luna patted my hand. “You’ll recover here under my protection. With me watching over you, Alex won’t dare lay another hand on you. Once Sadina proves she can’t carry his pups, I’ll ensure you return to your pack with all the honors befitting a future Luna.”
Her words chilled me to the bone.
I forced a trembling smile onto my lips, the taste of bile rising in my throat. “Yes, Luna. I understand“.
A full moon cycle passed as I languished

in the palace infirmary, my wounds slowly knitting under the careful ministrations of the pack healers.
Every day, I was tormented by the whispered conversations of the palace servants.
“Lord Alex hasn’t left Lady Sadina’s side since the incident,” one maid purred. “He brews her medicine himself, using the rarest moon – kissed herbs. His own Lycan fever be damned – he stays up all night to make sure she takes every drop.”
Another servant giggled.
“And did you hear? He even bathes her himself! His alpha hands gently wiping away the sweat, not caring that it might weaken his already ailing body. And the honeyed treats – he’s emptied every market in the territory of candied berries and sugared pine

bgMemories of my past life as Alex’s mate
scame flooding back.
bl could still feel the cold stone of the storage room where he’d banished me after I’d nearly lost our unborn pup.
His growl still echoed in my ears: “I’m too sick to coddle you. And that stench of wolfsbane – infused potions? It makes my fur crawl. Get out of my sight.”
For thirty long nights and days, I’d lain alone in that forgotten corner of the palace, my body racked with pain.
The sores on my back and thighs festered, the stench of rotting flesh mingling with the acrid smell of despair.

All the while, Alex never once came to check on me.
In those dark days of my past life, I’d convinced myself that Alex’s neglect was born from necessity. His Lycan fever raged like a wildfire, and I told myself it was my duty as his mate – in – waiting to be understanding.
I’d even muted the pained whimpers of my wolf, lest they add to his distress.
But now, as the servants‘ gossip painted a picture of Alex’s tender devotion to Sadina, a bitter realization dawned.
It wasn’t his ailing body that kept him from caring; it was his cold, unfeeling heart.
I let out a long, shuddering howl.

The moon waxed and waned, and with each passing night, Alex transformed before the iq pack’s eyes. His once – gaunt frame filled out
with newfound strength.
Bil
The sickly pallor that had clung to his
features like a death mask was replaced by a vibrant glow.
It was as if the very moon goddess herself smiled upon his union with Sadina.
“Three moons, and I’ll be whole again“.
