Chapter 7 Compromised

These words made everyone look at Kelly with different emotions. Everything went quiet for some seconds.
Then, Annie moved closer. “Does that mean that she is Master’s daughter?” She asked.
The people around started looking at each other. They had some questions
Realizing what she had said, Annie rubbed her eyes. “I mean, osteoarthritis is hereditary
“No!” Maya who was still confused shouted, “She is not Master’s daughter! I am!”
Everyone once again looked at her. She seemed like she wanted to cry. “I don’t know what they did to her. She must be faking it. Or. they found someone with the same disease. She is a mole!”
“Maya…” Drake called awkwardly.
“I’m telling you! She is a mole. Why is she pretending to be me?” Maya could not stop shouting.
I looked at the girl on the bed again. She had just fallen asleep. “Let’s talk about this later. Give her some time to rest,” I said.
I had been with Scon for so many years that I understood the disease. Scott had chronic osteoarthritis and he would be in so much pain once in a while.
And I knew clearly that without medication, it could lead to shock. I didn’t want it to happen on my watch.
“She is just an imposter! Why do you all care about her?” Maya asked as she was being dragged off. “You have to listen to me!”
Annie leaned closer to me and chuckled. “I’ve never seen you carry a girl before,” she said. “I snapped a picture for Grandpa,”
“Annie…” I called, feeling a little embarrassed. I didn’t know what had gotten over me. Maybe I should have let someone else carry the girl.
“Tsk!” Annie chuckled again. “Anyway, she is cute.”
“Give me your phone,” I said. I didn’t want any other person to see it
But A
Annie ran away. “No way!”
Drake, the doctor and I stayed in the room for a while longer as we waited for the test results.
“What are you thinking about?” Drake asked. I could tell that he was still confused about the whole situation.
I looked at the girl again and sighed. “I don’t know. Sometimes I look at her and just see him. But maybe she is just a good actor, I said.
Drake pursed his lips. “But no one is such a good actor. Sooner or later, they will slip,” he said.
I nodded in agreement. “Mm. That’s true,” I said. I fell silent for a while longer. “I want you to keep an eye on her.”
“But we have several people watching her daily. It’s been three weeks. She doesn’t even have a phone,” Drake said. I knew he had been observing the girl for a while and he said he didn’t see any problem with her.
I shook my head at him “Not her,” I said, my voice a little dry.
“What?” Drake sat up with a start. “You think….
“Just keep an eye on her, secretly. She could be the snake in my lawn,” I said.
Drakes lips moved for a second. I could guess what he was thinking. Huh! When did you start using the new girl’s phrases!”
But he didn’t say anything. He only nodded his head.
Dr. Stone confirmed that indeed Kelly was suffering from osteoarthritis from the test. Since she was still asleep, he handed

the prescription and the medicine to me.

“Let me know when she wakes up,” I said and began walking out. Drake quickly followed. He seemed not to understand why I was walking away with the prescription.
Two most trusted guards joined us at the entrance and we began making our way back to the quarters.
However, midway, something happened. I was still looking at the prescription with a complicated emotion on my face when Finn, my guard, pushed me away. “Watch out, Don!”
The next moment, several quiet gunshots sound were sounded. I had been pushed to the ground. I quickly looked up. And I saw Firm falling on the ground.
Blood was oozing from almost every part of his body. He fell to the ground with a thud and completely stopped moving.
“Sniper!” Drake shouted and pulled out his gun.
But I had reacted even faster. Lired several shots at the tree on the back. And the sound of someone falling was heard.
But I didn’t stop. I continued shooting until I was out of bullets. I was super mad. My eyes turned red and scary as I looked at Finn lying on the ground.
“Bring him in.” I shouted angrily and ran towards Finn. “Hey, look at me. You are going to be okay. Someone help me here!”
Drake pursed his lips. “Boss.” he called in fear. The man was already dead.
1 looked at Finn’s face and sighed deeply. He was dead. There was nothing I could do.
“I want to know how they found this place, Bring in all the guards on duty,” I said coldly Veins were pooping on my face. I looked like I wanted to murder the whole city.
“Yes, Boss, Drake replied.
Finn was one of the guards that I had personally grooved from a young age. I was always fond of him.
By this time, guards were covering the whole perimeter, ready for anything
Drake shook his head. “It was just one sniper,” I heard him say. “He is being brought in.”
“Where is he?” I asked angrily.
Everyone else was gathered in the hall, their heads bowed in fear.
Five guards who were on duty that day were kneeling at the front, their heads bowed in fear. They were trembling.
Drake shook his head in fear. “He’s dead,” he replied.
I took a heavy scary deep breath. “You failed in your duty. You all deserve to die,” I said to the guards who were kneeling.
The guards trembled more, but they didn’t dare to say anything else. They were scared. None wanted to be the first one to die by trying to talk.
Trook out my gun again and pointed it at them. “If you were more careful, that sniper would never come anywhere near this bunker. You have to die, just like Finn. The difference is that he didn’t deserve it, yet you all do!”
I wanted to shoot them.
Everyone trembled, I was always cold and feared. But they had never seen this side of me.
Drake hurriedly stood in front of me. “Boss…” He whispered. “You have to calm down…
“Tant” Luid, my tone still so cold but I sounded defeated. “Finn is dead!”
Drake swallowed hard, but he didn’t get out of the way. “I also failed in my duty. Don’t kill them. It won’t reduce the pain,” he

said in a lower voice.
I lowered my hand and let Dra

gun away. For the first time, I was broken.

“I want to kill you all, right now! But that won’t be enough! Someone is talking and it could be someone different from you,” I sid.
“But since you didn’t do your work well, you are dismissed! Take them away. If they ever set foot here again, I’ll kill them.” I
added.
As the guards were being pulled away, I looked at the rest of the people. “I want to know who is talking. This place is compromised, but we are not leaving until we find out who
I looked at Drake. “How many bullet holes are on Finn’s body?”
Drake shook a little. “Six, Don,” he said in fear.
I nodded. “That’s the fate that the traitor is going to face. I’ll put six bullets into their flesh!” I said.
Our group, The Tigers, as we called ourselves, was always prepared. Whenever there was a compromise from outside, we were always ready to move to a different place.
But we hadn’t moved for almost five years. That was because everyone was loyal, and the enemy never knew where we were
Everyone was silent and this made me even angrier. “It’s been five years of trust. I want to know who was turned,” I spoke up again.
The few trusted guards who were inspecting everyone’s room came back. One of them walked closer to Drake and whispered to him before he handed him something.
Drake creased his brows. He whispered something to me. My face turned even more scary.
Drake cleared his throat and looked at everyone. “Who stays in room 23B?” He asked, swinging a small phone in his hands.
There was silence once again, the people looking at each other in confusion.
Then Maya looked up. “238? That should be Kelly. Where is she?” She asked, seemingly in shock.
I looked at her. “What do you mean?” I asked, my brows furrowed dangerously.
Maya sighed. “I hadn’t thought of it. If all these days there has never been a compromise, how come now just after she
appears!
She stopped talking and looked at the guards. “Dave, where are you? Tell them what you told me the other day.”
“What are you doing? Drake asked in confusion. The color on my face had turned green.
One of the guards stepped forward, trembling. “Um….”
“Speak! “Maya barked at him. “I think everyone needs to hear this
