Chapter 26 Sever Ties
Mayra seemed to ignore the conversation between them and said to her realtor, “I’m fine with a duplex, but I’m not interested in detached or townhouse properties. Do you have anything else nearby?”
“Yes, there’s a duplex just around the corner. Would you like to go see it now?”
Mayra nodded and followed the realtor.
Elyse realized she was being ignored and her temper flared.
“Mayra, what the hell are you doing here? Can you just stop for a second?”
Elyse marched over and grabbed Mayra’s wrist. “We agreed to call off the engagement last night. You’ve stood up so many people and ignored my calls, and now you show up here without a care in the world. Are you seriously this shameless?”
Mayra yanked her hand free, her expression icy. “Have you said enough, Ms. Patton?”
Elyse froze, caught off guard by the formal title.
“What… what did you just call me?”
Mayra smiled at her coldly. “Ms. Patton. I’ve already said I want to sever ties with you. I’m not your daughter anymore. You don’t need to act like the wise ‘adult‘ here to lecture me. Your only daughter is Viviana.”
Elyse stood there, feeling like she had just heard something unbelievable.
Chapter 76 Sever
In the past, whenever she complimented Mayra, she’d get a happy response, with Mayra promising to do better next time.
Now, Mayra was addressing her as Ms. Patton, her eyes void of any warmth.
Elyse stood there, momentarily lost. That’s when Viviana spoke up.
“Mom, I think Mayra is just trying to get your attention this way. How about you don’t buy the house for me? I can let Mayra have it; I have other places to stay.”
Elyse’s moment of confusion vanished instantly and thought, “Mayra is always good at putting on an act.”
She was just looking for attention.
“Fine, I will just ignore her. Let Mayra perform her one–woman show. When she gets tired, she’d come crawling back,” Elyse thought.
Elyse took a deep breath and hooked her arm through Viviana’s. “I have to buy one for you.”
“Thank you, Mom.”
Viviana flashed Mayra a smug look, expecting to see jealousy or envy in Mayra’s eyes. But Mayra was already left with the realtor.
Viviana felt a twinge of discomfort.
Mayra and the realtor took a ten–minute drive, arriving at another house. she wanted to check out.
The building had six floors, with a duplex on each floor. It was 150. square meters, and given the prime location, the price came to 2.5 million dollars, which was within her budget.

Plus, it was close to the Morton Group, making the commute easy.
“Ms. Mayra, do you like this one? The owner is eager to sell. You’re the local and are familiar with the area, so I’ll skip the surroundings here. The shopping district is nearby; everything’s convenient; and the security is top–notch. They patrol at night, so even if you live alone, it’s perfectly safe.”
Mayra instantly took a liking to it. The interior was simple but elegant; the owner probably was a woman.
J’2.5 million dollars? Can it be any cheaper?” Mayra asked.
“Property prices have been rising for years. This price is for a bare unit, and the owner is throwing in the furnishings–high–quality furniture, too. If it weren’t for the urgent sale, it would’ve been priced even higher.”
Mayra smiled, “Alright. Let’s contact the owner and sign the contract.”
She could tell the furniture was tasteful. The property was only two years old, and everything was in great condition. The realtor wasn’t lying, and the owner was indeed eager to sell, so Mayra didn’t feel the need to haggle.
Besides, her money had come easily, so she wasn’t worried about the price.
The previous owner was efficient as well. By the afternoon, all the paperwork was done, and the keys were in her hand.
The speed was almost unbelievable. Mayra would probably be able to move in tomorrow, after picking up some bedding.
Her mood lifted instantly.
Meanwhile, Draven wasn’t seriously injured, but thinking about Mayra made his face twist with rage.

Draven couldn’t take the humiliation anymore. “That damn bitch! I’ll kill her sooner or later. You got any ideas?”
Jordon had been slapped by Neil in front of a crowd and warned not to cause trouble, so he stayed silent.
Draven grew more desperate. “Jordon, are you chicken? Are you really that scared of Neil?”
His words hit a nerve. In the Riddle family, everything was under Neil’s control. If Neil wanted someone gone, they were gone.
Of course, Jordon was afraid of him.
He shot up, his forehead veins bulging. “It’d be easy for you to deal with her, right? You’re Ronan’s uncle, and Mayra’s been bending over backward to please your family. She’s practically been groveling.”
“Yeah, I’ve got some tricks up my sleeve. This bitch has been off lately, thinking she can mess with me.”
Jordon’s eyes darkened. “You go ahead and make the first move. If you can’t handle it, I’ll step in.”
“Fine. I’ll make sure that bitch regrets ever being born!”
