Chapter 16
Samuel’s Pov
“Kevin, lend me your pistol.”
Felicia didn’t wait for permission. She walked right up, slipped Kevin’s handgun from his belt, and raised it with the ease of someone who knew exactly what they were doing. Without missing a beat, she aimed at a bird soaring high over the garden and fired.
It dropped in an instant.
Gasps echoed from the crowd, awe written on every face.
Kevin looked not impressed. But I… I was stunned.

My breath caught. My body trembled.
Larissa gripped my arm tightly.
That shot, that stance–it was exactly like the one I caught a glimpse of all those years ago. That graceful figure that had haunted my dreams ever since.
It was her.
It was Felicia.
Not Larissa.
I stared, dazed, drawn forward like I wasn’t in control of my own limbs. Larissa tugged at me, but I didn’t feel it. Couldn’t. I was too caught in the way Felicia moved, the way her smile lit up her entire face.
The crowd burst into applause, loud and

thunderous, but it all sounded muffled to me. My lips moved before I realized I was speaking.
“It was you… The girl at the training ground… it was always you…”
Felicia didn’t bother responding. She handed the pistol back to Kevin without a word and sat down gracefully, like none of this had affected her in the slightest.
My father clapped, beaming with delight. “Marvelous! Thank you, Miss Felicia, for such a gift on Samuel’s wedding day. Now, Samuel, it’s time to take Larissa to the bridal chamber!”
Larissa clung to my arm again, eager to pull me away. But something inside me snapped. I shook her off, harder than I meant to, and took a step toward Felicia, regret tightening

like a vise around my heart.
“It was you” I said again, louder this time. “It’s always been you. Larissa lied to me. I was deceived–this whole time, I thought it was her at the training ground, but it was never her. It was you.”
I looked straight at Felicia, pleading. “I know you still love me. I know it. I see it in your eyes. I’ll go to Alpha Godfrey. I’ll beg him.
to let us be together. Just give me another chance.”
Gasps. Whispers. Shock rippled through the crowd.
Larissa’s face drained of color.
She threw herself at me, desperation all over her face. “Samuel, don’t leave me! I lied, yes -but it was because I loved you. I only

wanted to be with you!”
Tears poured down her cheeks. The kind that used to move me. That used to make me feel responsible. Protective.
But not anymore.
All I felt was disgust.
I looked at her and all I could see was the betrayal, the manipulation, the years wasted on a lie!
I shoved her away. She hit the ground hard.
“Don’t touch me” I growled. “You lied to me for years. You made me think it was you. If it weren’t for you, I never would’ve lost Felicia.”
That was it. The truth finally crashed over
- me.

It had always been Felicia.
In my last life, we’d only been married a year before Larissa seduced me–always playing the victim, whispering sob stories about her cruel stepmother, begging me to run away with her and start over. I’d been a fool. I’d left Felicia behind, heartbroken and alone.
And this time? She’d done it again. Lied. Pretended to be the one I loved. And because of that, Felicia ended up with Kevin.
She should’ve been mine.
The room exploded into chaos. Shouting, murmurs, shocked faces everywhere.
Larissa’s family was livid. My father stood up, red–faced with fury.

“Enough! You dare humiliate us like this? Felicia’s mate is her own choice! You’ve already entered a mating contract with Larissa. This is not a joke!”
His voice boomed across the room. “Apologize to Miss Felicia right now, and take your mate to the bridal chamber. That’s an order!”
But I didn’t hear him anymore.
My eyes were only on her.
I stepped forward again, right to where Felicia sat, my voice low and trembling with hope.
“Felicia, I know you still care. You’re just angry, but I see it–I feel it. I was blind before, but I see the truth now. You don’t have to punish me by staying with Kevin. Please,

come with me. We’ll talk to Alpha Godfrey together. We can still fix this. We can still have our future.”
Felicia’s POV
This was the first time Samuel had ever apologized to me.
Ever.
Back when he was doing all kinds of damage in Larissa’s name–hurting me, lying, choosing her over and over again–he never once said he was sorry. Not once.
But now? Over something so small, something barely worth flinching at, he suddenly decides I deserve an apology.

I couldn’t help it–I actually laughed.
So that’s all it took to see through them? Just this?
I tilted my head, smiling sweetly. “What makes you think a mate bond can just be… changed like that?” I asked, my voice light but cold.
“And for the record, Kevin isn’t some random rebound. I chose him. Freely. I haven’t had feelings for you in a long time, Samuel.”
