Chapter 27 Encounter
Chapter 27 Encounter
On the other hand, the man was enthusiastic and took the
initiative to strike up a conversation with me. He said, “What do
you usually enjoy doing, Ma’am?”
I smiled, “I like reading!”
“Well, reading is good for one’s temperament. No wonder you give off such a classy vibe.”
Not knowing what to say, I got up. “I need to use the bathroom.””
I failed to find the bathroom despite wandering around the club for a long time. Instead, I bumped into some familiar faces.
It was Peter and Janet.
They were walking side by side, and we bumped into each other in the hallway. I couldn’t avoid them though I wanted to.
Janet’s smile instantly vanished as she saw me, and she turned to Peter, saying, “What is she doing here?”
Peter was surprised too. He shook his head slightly. “Trystan told her to go home while we were at Herbal Garden. He didn’t
ask her to come with us.”
From their conversation, I could figure out that they were
having a gathering here. They probably didn’t want me tagging along, so they sent me away when we were at Herbal Garden.

could you be so cheeky?” Peter always said harsh things to me,
so he didn’t hold back at all.
Not bothering to explain, I answered briefly, “You think too
much. I’m here with a friend.”
I had better things to do than following Trystan everywhere.
Janet eyed me from head to toe and then narrowed her eyes. “Didn’t you just get an abortion? How come you are already everywhere?”
“She’s surely sad and lonely. Trystan never touches her, so she has no choice but to find another man outside.” Peter was with all kinds of outrageous things.
I frowned, feeling annoyed. “You should rinse your mouth when you get home, Mr. Robert. The air stinks.”
I never liked either of them, so I turned around at once and was about to leave.
Yet Janet stood in my way and sneered while looking at me, “It’s only been a few days since we last met, and you’re getting more glib? What is it? Haven’t you signed the divorce papers yet? You’ve already lost your baby. You don’t think Trystan would actually stay with a woman who was once with a dead baby in
Chapter 27 Encounter
Feeling furious, I glared at her coldly and scoffed, “With a dead
baby? Have you already forgotten that you’ve just lost your
child, too, Janet?”
“You… Janet turned red with fury and raised her hand,
wanting to slap me.
I blocked her hand. “If playing innocent is what you’re trying to
do, you’d better do a better job. Trystan won’t like you if he sees
the way you are right now!‘
With that, I shoved her arm away and was about to leave.
Unexpectedly, Janet decided to set me up. The moment I let go of her, she deliberately stumbled and collapsed against the wall
next to her.
From a distance, it looked as though I had pushed her.
Sure enough, coincidences existed. Trystan and Lanny had just walked over, and they saw what had just happened.
“What’s wrong with you, Evie? All Janet did was talk to you! Did you have to do that?” Peter roared at me while helping Janet
- up.
I thought, “What do you mean? Am I supposed to be insulted by

I thought, “What do you mean? Am I supposed to be insulted by
her, then?”
“If your eyes and brain are of no use to you, you may give them
to someone who needs them, Mr. Robert. Don’t waste what
you’ve been given.” I just couldn’t figure out why Trystan would
hang around someone as despicable as Peter.
Trystan and Lanny were watching while standing aside with
their hands in their pockets. I glanced at them and was ready to
leave without even greeting them, feeling enraged deep down.
However, Peter grabbed my hand. “You’re leaving after you hit
her and scolded her? Where are your manners, Evie?”
“Are you crazy, Peter? When did I ever hit her? And you’re
saying that I scolded her? What about you scolding me then?” I
was in an awful mood already, so I really didn’t want to argue
with him. I shook Peter’s hand away and left.
The second I walked past Trystan, he held me by the wrist,
forcing me to stop in my tracks. I looked at him.
His face was utterly dark, and his eyes turned frosty. Evidently,
he was mad.
“Can I help you, Mr. Compton?” I didn’t feel like I was his wife at
Chapter 27 Encounter:
The more I felt this way, the more upset I became.
Even the way I looked at Trystan was full of defiance.
“Apologize.” His voice was completely commanding.
I frowned, utterly pissed off. “Have you lost your mind,
Trystan? Why the heck should I apologize?”
“You pushed her,” he said grimly, his voice deep and filled with
displease.
I pushed her? I laughed in anger. “You might carve out your eyes if you’re blind, Trystan.”
“Evie Carson!” he called out my full name in a deep, chilling voice. “Apologize to her now.”
“What if I don’t?” Suppressing my anger, I glared at him and looked into his eyes, unafraid of his cold gaze at all.
He frowned and pursed his lips, and the cold aura coming from him engulfed the surroundings. “Lexie’s bar seems to be doing quite well these days, don’t you think?”
I was instantly terrified and thought, “He is threatening me? How can he force me to apologize to Janet with such a despicable means?”
Chapter 27 Encounter
I looked up at him, whose lips remained pursed. He had a bit of
stubble, making him look unruly yet alluring at the same time.
Unfortunately, at this very moment, I wasn’t in the mind to
admire his face at all. My heart grew cold, and I said after a few seconds, “Fine. I’ll apologize.”
Breaking free of his grasp, I walked over to Janet. Suppressing all the wrath deep down, I looked at her. “I’m sorry.””
Janet looked so helpless and pitiful as though I had indeed bullied her.
Meanwhile, Peter, who was aside obviously, had nothing better to do than to stir things up. He said with a look of disdain, “So, you think you just have to apologize after hitting her? In that case, I’ll kill a guy and say sorry, and I can get away. Who needs the laws, right?”
Fuck!
I was on the verge of flaring up. I looked at him and said coldly, “What else do you want from me?”
He crossed his arms and said righteously, “We have a rule. Whoever makes a mistake has to apologize sincerely and drink till the others are happy. Then we can call it a day!”
Chapter 27 Encounter
I thought, “Fuck you!
How is that supposed to be an apology?”
“Knock it off, Peter,” Lanny, who had been watching the whole
time, frowned a bit more deeply.
Instead of looking at Lanny, Peter looked at Trystan and said,
“What do you think, Trystan?”
Trystan squinted slightly and looked at me, frowning a bit.
After a long while, he turned to Janet. “What do you think?”
Janet lowered her head slightly. She spoke in a soft voice, but
everyone could hear her. “After all, Evie is your wife, Trystan.
You may call the shots.”
She was such a pretentious phony.
I suppressed my anger and turned to Peter. “So, where shall we
drink?”
Lanny walked up to me and frowned, saying, “Have you got no
fear?”
I knew what he was referring to. I had to be careful since there
was a life inside of me. Who knew what would happen if I
drank?

Peter obviously didn’t want Lanny to rain on their parade. “Stay
out of it, Lanny. Let’s go, Ms. Carson.” He looked at me.
I followed them to the private room they had booked in
advance.
Peter was afraid I wouldn’t suffer, so he ordered ten bottles of whiskey and two crates of beer.
