Chapter 14 Do You Think Lanny Likes You?
I knew that Trystan was angry, so I murmured goodbye to Lexie
and walked toward him. Lowering my head, I said, “Thank you.”
Trystan coldly glanced at me with deep eyes, his face.
emotionless. “Get into the car,” he said flatly.
I got into the car obediently.
On the way back home, I received a text message from Lexie
saying that she was back home safely. I replied to her: “Sleep
early.” Looking out the car window, I realized that we were near
home.
Trystan was as cold as ever. Now that he hadn’t said a word, I
kept silent too.
The car stopped in front of the villa. He strode into it. I followed
him as I explained, “Trystan, I thought that you were drunk.
That was why I called Dr. Dennis. I didn’t mean anything else by
that.””
My explanation was possibly unnecessary, but I still said that. I
knew that he wouldn’t care.
Suddenly, he paused as he narrowed his eyes at me. “Anything

else? Do you think Lanny likes you?”
I was struck dumb by his words.
He was right. Lanny was Trystan’s friend, and I was Trystan’s
wife. Even if I weren’t married to him, Lanny wouldn’t be
attracted to me.
I knew that I was nothing to Trystan. If not for Arnold’s love for
me, I wouldn’t even have been able to meet Trystan, let alone
marry him.
Seeing that I didn’t respond, Trystan glanced icily at me, ready
to go upstairs.
Suddenly, he stopped as if something had just occurred to him.
Looking back, he ordered, “Buy some food for me at
Moongarden Restaurant.”
I was stunned. Why didn’t he say so on the way home?
Moongarden Restaurant was far away from here. Besides, it
was already midnight. Was he telling me to drive across half the
city to buy food for him?
“Do you have to eat it today? It’s already midnight. The
restaurant might have been closed.”
“It’s open 24 hours a day,” he replied and went upstairs
He didn’t want food. He just wanted to torture me.
After all, I did something wrong. I went out of the villa and
prepared to drive to the restaurant.
It was the rainy season, so the air was damp. I felt it would rain
soon. I wanted to drive Trystan’s Jeep, but he had taken the keys
upstairs with him. Seeing this, I walked to the garage and drove
another car with a lower base.
At one a.m., I drove across town to buy food. I was secretly
delighted because it hadn’t rained.
However, by the time I stepped out of Moongarden Restaurant,
it was already pouring.
I drove back home slowly, avoiding the tunnels. River City was
famous for flashfloods involving highways and tunnels. Hence,
I took a detour home to avoid the flash floods.
Unexpectedly, the car broke down halfway. As I took a detour
home, I was still far away from home. I ended up being stuck in
a remote area. It was raining heavily, so I couldn’t get a cab
either.
Checking my phone, I realized that it was running out of
battery. Seeing this, I hurriedly called Trystan.

I called him several times, but he didn’t answer. The battery was
dying, so I found an umbrella in the car, grabbed his food, and
walked home.
