Chapter 16%
Life after mariage felt as though it had been blessed by the Moon Goddess herself–serene and full of joy.
Ezequiel and I stood side by side, managing the Silver Moon Corporation together. Hia unwavering support gave me newfound confidence in handling the affairs of my family and the pack
We worked shoulder to shoulder every day, and in the quiet evenings, we strolled under the moonlight, our hearts beating in perfect rhythm. It was as if nothing in the world could disturb our peace. My wolf, once restless, now slumbered quietly within me, basking in the long–lost feeling of safety and contentment
But peace, as always, was fleeting
Weston and Maya–those two parasites clinging to our lives–resurfaced
Though Weston’s company had already gone bankrupt once, their alliance with Logan gave them the fuel to launch a series of vicious attacks on several subsidiaries of Silver Moon
They spread malicious rumors, engaged in cutthroat competition, and even resorted to underhanded, borderline criminal tactics in an attempt to destabilize our market and devour our profits
At first, I dismissed them as nothing more than desperate clowns making their last stand. But their attacks grew increasingly aggressive, even dragging in long–established companies that had partnered with the Silver Moon Corporation for years. Their schemes disrupted our operations and created senous complications,
When I saw those trusted, time–honored enterprises suffering heavy losses because of their conspiracy, the anger I had held back for so long finally erupted.
“They’ve gone too far!” I slammed my hand against the desk, rattling the neatly stacked documents.
Ezequiel immediately came over and gently rubbed my back, his calm voice wrapping around me like a balm. “Don’t let them get to you. That’s exactly what they want. We have more than enough means to deal with them.”
“No.” My voice tumed icy. “They’ve crossed a line. I won’t give them another chance.
I immediately mobilized over a hundred billion in capital and launched a full–scale acquisition attack on the companies under Weston and Maya’s control.
In one swift, brutal move, I drove their stock prices to the ground and completed a hostile takeover at a fraction of the original cost.
In just one week, their companies went bankrupt–again. But this time, it was the final. They lost everything, down to the last penny. There would be no comeback.
To celebrate our total victory, I decided to throw a grand celebration–and announce my pregnancy.
The banquet hall of Silver Moon dazzled with light and laughter. Dignitaries, socialites, and power players gathered, toasting to the renewed glory of the Silver Moon Corporation, I stood with Ezequiel and my grandparents, accepting everyone’s congratulations, a serene smile on my face, the smile of someone who had truly won.
But just as the evening reached its peak–while we were all gathered together, enjoying the warmth of family and festivity–a sudden wave of dizziness crashed over me!
My vision blurred, and my limbs grew heavy.
Ezequiel’s brows furrowed! I saw his unease. My grandparents, too, were visibly pale, struggling to stay upright
“Poison…” was the last thought that flashed through my mind before darkness swallowed me whole.:
When I woke up, I was in a damp, dark basement. Thick ropes bound my hands and feet, and my mouth had been stuffed with cloth.
Ezequiel and my grandparents lay unconscious beside me, bound in the same cruel way. Because of my pregnancy and recent nausea, I ate the least and was the first to awaken
My wolf growled in fury, but I was too weak to summon any strength.8
I struggled, but the ropes were tight, cutting into my skin with every move.
“Well, well. The pampered Miss Schultz is finally awake.”
A cold, familiar voice slithered from the shadows ||
stepped into the dim light, her face twisted into a grotesque smile. The scar across her face looked even more horrifying in the flickering light. Dressed in a sleek black suit, she toyed with a sharp dagger, her eyes gleaming with madness and delight
Behind her stood a group of fierce, battle–wom werewolves, glaring at us with open hostility
“Surprised, Amalia?” Maya sneered as she walked toward me, dragging the dagger’s point along my cheek. “You thought you won? That you could destroy everything I had and leave me with nothing? My beauty, my child, my status–my future! You took it all!”
Her voice cracked with unhinged hatred
She kicked Ezequiel’s unconscious body.
“The great Lycan King’s son, reduced to a lifeless mutt under my feet.”
She then turned to my grandparents, looking at them with utter contempt.
“And the two old relics of the Silver Moon clan–soon everything you once ruled will be mine.”
She turned back to me and pressed the dagger against my throat Her hand trembled with excitement.!!
“Give it to me. Amalia. Everything. The control of the Silver Moon. Your wealth. Your Alpha power. Or il kill them all–one by one while you
I felt the cold blade kissing my skin. But my gaze never wavered.
“Do you think stealing these things will bring you happiness?” I masped, my voice hoarse but unwavering
“Do you think by taking what doesn’t belong to you, you’ll stop being an Omega? That you’ll finally get the respect you crave?” Maya’s smile froze
“You were bom wanting what you could never have,” I said softly, each word a dagger that stabbed through her heart. “And nothing you do will ever change that.“%
Her face twisted in rage. With a screech, she raised the dagger high, laughing maniacally.
“You’re wrong! I’ll have it all! I’ll give birth to the strongest Alpha heir and become a true nobility%
She stroked her stomach, but her movements were oddly tense.X
I narrowed my eyes.
“Are you even sure that the child you’re carrying has Alpha blood?”
Her hand froze.
“What if it’s Damian’s child? Or Weston’s? Maybe then it’ll be an Alpha. But if it’s Sebastian’s–if it’s an Omega’s child–what then? Can you still stake your future on it?”
Maya went pale. Her hand shot protectively to her belly, panic flashing in her eyes.
She couldn’t be sure. That flicker of despair in her eyes betrayed her. She had no certainty about her child’s bloodline–and that fear was why she’d resorted to this desperate scheme.
She wanted to take everything before the child was bom–before her illusion crumbled.
“Shut up! Shut Up!” she shrieked, her dagger now aimed at Ezequiel, “You’ll all pay for what you did to me!”
I looked at my unconscious family, at Ezequiel lying still on the ground. I couldn’t let them suffer because of me.
“Tll give it to you,” I said hoarsely, my voice low and steady. “My Alpha power. All of it. Just promise me–spare them. Spare Ezequiel. Let them go.”&
Maya’s eyes suddenly lit up. She stared at me in disbelief, her gaze brimming with greed and barely–contained desire. She knew exactly what the full power of an Alpha rank meant–it was enough to elevate her from a lowly Omega to a force capable of bending the world to her will.
“You… you’re senous?” Her voice quivered, betraying the storm of ambition behind her trembling tone.
“I swear it,” I said, locking eyes with her, unwavering. “Take my Alpha strength. But leave my family out of this. From now on, the Silver Moon will have nothing to do with you.”
Maya didn’t even hesitate. She threw up her hand in oath, trembling with greed and triumph.
“I swear! I won’t harm them!”
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath
