Chapter 10
Oliver had a sudden change of heart and began visiting me daily, insisting that he regretted his past actions.
To demonstrate his “sincerity,” he even sent Jessica abroad with nothing- forcing her to survive on her own.
Meanwhile, Damon teamed up with international magnates to strategically sabotage every part of Oliver’s business.
Combined with the fact that I had claimed most of our shared assets during the divorce, Oliver was left utterly devastated and struggled to
recover.
The next time I encountered Oliver, he was standing outside my house.
His clothes were heavily creased, his eyes sunken, and dark circles marked his face.
As I stepped out, our eyes locked.
Oliver quickly approached with a hopeful gleam in his eyes.
“Amy, I made a mistake. Don’t marry Damon. You didn’t choose him before, did you? He can’t genuinely care for you–he’s just out for revenge against us.
“I’m the only one who truly loves you. I’ve sent away the person you despised. From now on, you’ll be the only one in my life. Please don’t
leave me.
“Will you forgive me this time? And help save our company, please?”

I glared coldly at the man before me, struggling to recall how I ever fell for him.
“Stop fooling yourself, Oliver. I’m engaged to Damon, and I’m not going back on that.”
I continued, “As for our past, that was my mistake. I was foolish to love someone like you and nearly ruined my life.”
‘Don’t be so cold, Amy. I realize I was wrong. It was all Jessica’s fault- she manipulated me, made me lose my mind.”
He insisted, “I love you. I truly regret it.
I shook off his hand forcefully and stepped back, wary.
“Do you really understand what you did wrong, or are you just scared of losing everything?”
I challenged. “Oliver, did you realize how alone I felt abroad? Don’t think you can avoid legal consequences now that we’re back. I won’t let you get away with it.
Oliver looked at me, pained, still wanting to speak.
Suddenly, a disheveled woman charged at him, beating and cursing him.
“Oliver, you bastard! You abandoned me abroad–I nearly died!”
