If time could rewind, Mayra would’ve preferred to die in bed rather than crawl her way to the Oliver family last night.
She took a deep breath and completely ignored Ronan.
Ronan felt a sense of satisfaction. He and Mayra had known each other for years, but five years ago, Viviana came into the picture, and she was just so fragile, like a breakable doll.
Unconsciously, everyone gravitated toward Viviana, and now, it had become the norm.
Everyone thought Mayra was just throwing a tantrum; they figured she’d come back eventually.
The drinks from the delivery arrived quickly, and everyone thanked Haleigh, not one of them remembering that it was Mayra who had placed the order.
Mayra didn’t care to argue about it. She focused on the materials she was working on, diligently getting things done.
She had an appointment with a realtor in the afternoon. After receiving 3.5 million dollars last night, she saw no reason to keep living in that miserable place.
As soon as the clock hit the end of the workday, she stood up to leave.
But just then, Haleigh came over, handing her a pile of documents.
“Here, sort these out. I need them in an hour.”

Mayra furrowed her brows and flipped through a few pages. “Ms. Cobb, you gave me these the first day. I’ve already sorted out all the key points.”
Haleigh’s face darkened. She hadn’t expected Mayra to finish them so quickly.
When she saw the completed work, she could hardly believe it.
Haleigh thought, “It must’ve been Ronan helping her–there’s no way Mayra could have done this on her own.”
So, she brought over another pile of materials, most of which were repeats from the first batch.
Mayra flipped through a few pages and immediately recognized them.
She smiled at Haleigh and said, “Or is there something in these documents that you didn’t understand?”
Haleigh’s expression grew even darker. “What do you mean by that?”
I’m just stating the facts. The document I prepared is clear and concise. If there’s something you don’t get, feel free to ask.”
Haleigh, who prided herself on being a strong, independent woman in the workplace, couldn’t stand the humiliation.
She took a deep breath, then sneered, “Those documents weren’t even done by you. You must’ve gotten help from a man, didn’t you? Mayra, what’s there to be proud of? The only reason you have all this is because of your background. If you came from a family like mine, you’d probably be out there selling yourself by now.”
Mayra clapped her hands and said nonchalantly, “So you really are admirable. You’re the epitome of the modern independent woman. We should all learn from you. Anything else?”

Haleigh’s face flushed with anger. For a moment, she couldn’t think of a
response.
“I’m not like you, chasing after men. Everything I have, I earned myself.”
Mayra glanced at the time, growing increasingly impatient. “I’m not interested in hearing your life story. If there’s nothing work–related, I’ll be leaving now.”
“Mayra!”
Haleigh was so furious her chest was shaking.
Mayra, however, walked straight into the elevator. She hadn’t wanted to tear the mask off so soon, but Haleigh had positioned herself as this ‘new era‘ independent woman, looking down on her with that smug attitude of, “I’m not like you.”
Yet her confidence came from putting down other women.
She couldn’t call herself an independent woman while belittling others.
She’s just a high–level manipulator, pretending to be pure while playing games behind the scenes.
Mayra met the realtor at the agreed location. The realtor was polite and accommodating.
“Ms. Mayra, this is the best property in the area. The security is excellent. Only residents or their guests are allowed in.”
The property was nice, and it wasn’t too far from the Morton Group. It was a peaceful spot in the bustling city center–perfect for living.
But the price was beyond her budget. In fact, it exceeded her expectations

Just as she finished speaking, another realtor came in, bringing Viviana and Elyse along.
The new realtor was all smiles, saying, “The villas here are small, but the area is surrounded by shopping districts. It’s perfect for a woman living alone–safe and convenient.”
Elyse took Viviana’s hand, her voice full of pity. “This villa is only about 300 square meters, and the garden is small. Are you sure you want this? I could get you a better one, sweetie.”
Viviana smiled brightly, “Mom, it’s fine. 300 square meters is plenty for me. Plus, it’s close to where Ronan works, so I can visit him anytime.”
As she spoke, Viviana noticed Mayra from afar. Her eyes widened in surprise. “Mayra, you’re looking at houses too?”
Elyse finally spotted Mayra and immediately scowled, her brows furrowing in displeasure. “What are you doing here? Knowing me to buy Vivi a house and going to cause trouble again?”
