Chapter 21 Slander
The Oliver family was all smiles, even starting to discuss where to hold the wedding.
Elyse clasped Viviana’s hand, her eyes turning red with emotion.
“Vivi, you have really gone through your fair share of hardship. You two should cherish what you have now, and don’t let any of those bitter, jealous souls ruin your happiness,” Elyse said.
Viviana curved her lips into a smile, “Mom, Ronan and I will be happy.”
Shaun, ever the interrupter, chimed in, “If Mayra had given up earlier, you two would’ve been together years ago.
Why drag it out so long?”
Ronan’s gaze kept darting to the wall. The clock struck seven, but still, Mayra hadn’t shown up.
He turned to the servant standing nearby, “Has Mayra arrived?”
“Mr. Ronan, there’s no sign of her.”
Ronan snorted in frustration, crossing his arms as he glared with dissatisfaction. “She’s not coming, is she? I knew it. This is her game, always the same.”
The mood in the room shifted from joy to cold indifference, then finally, contempt.
Elyse was so angry her chest heaved with each breath. She pulled out her phone and called Mayra.
But there was no answer.

She coughed violently, muttering through clenched teeth, “I wish I’d never given birth to her.”
Viviana quickly handed her a glass of warm water and said, “Mom, please don’t be upset. Maybe Mayra’s just stuck in traffic. Let’s give her another hour.”
Shaun rolled his eyes. “Viviana, stop defending her. She’s done this time and time again–saying she’ll call off the engagement, but always coming up with excuses not to show up. I actually thought she was serious this time, but I guess I was wrong.”

The mood was clearly souring for everyone, except Viviana, who couldn’t hide her joy.
She had absolute faith in Jordon’s abilities. Once he went wild, he didn’t care about the consequences.
Viviana thought, “Mayra was just bound to be humiliated. She deserved it.”
By eight o’clock, Mayra still showed no signs of arriving.
Ronan slammed his fist on the table, his face dark with frustration. “My time is valuable. I’m not waiting any longer. I gotta go.”
Everyone’s mood was now visibly sour. Viviana hurried to her feet to see him off.
“Ronan, don’t be angry.”
Ronan wasn’t really angry. He felt conflicted, but right now, he just wanted to leave.
After seeing him out, Viviana returned to the living room, looking wounded.

“Vivi, this is your compensation for tonight–2 million dollars. Use it to buy something nice. And as for that house you liked, I’ll go with you to check it out when we have time.”
“Thank you, Mom.” Viviana hugged her arm, “I knew you were the best to me.”
“If you’d just learned to fight for what you want a little bit more, you wouldn’t be pushed around so much.”

Mayra woke from her stupor, her eyes flickering to the clock. It was already 10 PM.

She sighed, forcing herself to get out of bed.
The room was empty.
This must have been Colten’s suite. She was drenched in sweat, so she turned and went to the bathroom for a quick shower.
As she stepped out, there was a knock at the door.
She opened it to find a staff member pushing a cart.
“Ms. Mayra, would you like something to eat?”
Mayra was dizzy with hunger. She quickly ate something, regaining enough energy to function.
She checked her phone and saw several missed calls.
There were calls from Elyse, Ronan, and even Shaun.

Ronan had sent her a message: “I knew you wouldn’t show up.”
Mayra remained calm. Then she saw another message from an unknown number: “Bitch, next time you won’t be so lucky. You will be finished.”
She guessed this must be from Jordon.
Her expression darkened in an instant. She had promised herself she wouldn’t let Jordon get away with it.
Just then, another message came through from the unknown number, “Draven’s in the hospital. You’d better brace yourself for revenge. You won’t be able to handle what’s coming. Maybe when you wake up, you won’t even know whose bed you’re lying in.”
“These two are truly disgusting,” Mayra thought.

Her current living situation wasn’t safe. She couldn’t go back for the time being.
She called Gracie, who told her that Jordon was drinking at the
Moonlight Club. Mayra headed there right away.
When Mayra found Gracie, Gracie was still in her cocktail waitress outfit.
“Gracie, can I borrow this outfit?”
“Maya, don’t do anything reckless. If something happens, I’ll get in trouble.”
“Nothing’s going to happen.”
Gracie reluctantly handed her the outfit.
Mayra changed, put on a hat, and went straight to Jordon’s private booth.

privilege, but the Riddle family already had an heir. No matter how noble Jordon’s status seemed, it never held much weight.
Mayra lowered her gaze and poured drinks for the people in the booth.
The crowd in the booth consisted mostly of people from the circle. Some were close to Jordon, while others were just random people who
happened to be there drinking.
Jordon, already irritated, let loose once he was drunk.
“Mayra? She’s just a slut. Spent the whole night with Draven. You could hear the sounds all the way down the hallway.”
“No way. I thought she was chasing after Ronan. She’d actually sleep with Draven?”
Jordon’s face twisted with mockery. “You guys don’t get her. She’d sleep with anyone to get close to Ronan. She’s just a high–end prostitute. As long as you’re close to Ronan, you can have her. She’s a woman who goes to the gynecologist hundreds of times a year. I’m actually scared she’s got something.”
