Chapter 9 A Woman Who’s Too Forward Loses Her Value
Jared couldn’t be bothered with playing nice. He turned and headed back
to the car.
Mayra stood still, gripping the handle of the ebike, watching the car drive off.
Inside the car, Colten was focused on the papers in his hands, overhearing Jared’s remarks.
“I’ve looked into it. She’s jealous again, all because of Ronan and Viviana. Looks like her engagement’s about to be called off. She deserves it.”
Colten paused, his fingers tightening around the file. The last time Ronan threatened to break off the engagement with Mayra, she refused. Ronan had jokingly said if she jumped off a bridge, he wouldn’t call it off. Within seconds, Mayra had jumped into the river, ending up in the hospital for a month, just to keep the engagement going.
Now Ronan was threatening again…
Who knew what kind of drama she’d stir up
this time?
Mayra wobbled back to the rental place on the ebike. She had a 15 thousand dollars debt on her mind, feeling increasingly unlucky as she
went.
Just then, Gracie called. “Maya, need some cash? How about coming to Moonlight Club tonight?”
Moonlight Club was the most famous nightclub in Moonfell, known as a playground for the rich heirs. You could earn thousands in tips in a single night.

“Can you really make money there?”
“Yep, I got three thousand in tips last night. The rich guys in that private room are generous. I’m on duty these days, but I’ve got something to do tonight. If you come, I’ll pass the opportunity to you.”
5 thousand dollars?
Mayra was instantly interested. She asked for the address and took a cab
over.
Mayra was a regular at Moonlight Club, though she didn’t know she was so well–known there.
The club operated on facial recognition, and the bouncers were paid. handsomely. Their job was to remember every member’s face, and every staff member’s face too, to keep unwanted people out.
As soon as Mayra arrived, the bouncers‘ faces filled with disdain.
She’d caused trouble there before, especially when Ronan got too close to one of the club’s hostesses. Mayra had slapped her several times.
When Ronan got angry, she quickly apologized, switching faces faster than she could blink, as if she had no pride.
One of the bouncers, trying to be helpful, warned her, “Ms. Mayra, don’t cause any trouble tonight.”
Mayra raised an eyebrow, not fully understanding.
She walked inside and found Gracie in a staff changing room.
Gracie handed her a change of clothes, giving her quick instructions. “Take the drinks in, and serve the expensive stuff. The higher the price, the bigger your tip. When the night’s over, I’ll transfer the money directly to you. I’ve gotta leave now, so I’m counting on you.”

Mayra quickly changed into the work outfit, which was tight–fitting and designed to appeal to the male clientele.
Her figure already turned heads, but in this outfit, she was practically setting hearts on fire.
Gracie quickly lowered her eyes, hiding her own emotions.
“All set, go ahead. The room’s at the end of the hall.”
Mayra nodded and gave her a smile. “Thanks, Gracie.”
She pushed the drink cart toward the private room.
In the private room, Ronan was chatting with a few friends.
Draven snorted, holding up one finger. “I bet she’ll be back tonight. Last time, when Ronan talked about breaking up with her, she didn’t care about her life and jumped straight off the bridge.”
“I still don’t get it. How did Ronan manage to make Mayra so obsessed?”
“If she weren’t so obsessed with Ronan, I’d honestly be tempted by that face myself.”
Ronan was basking in their praise, his ego swelling.
To a man, pride was everything, and Mayra’s beauty was hard to ignore. For years, she had been trailing after him like a devoted lapdog, and it had left many men green with envy.
Once, Ronan had actually liked Mayra, but there was a saying. When a woman was too eager, she lost her value.
After one insult, then another, she only grew more obsessed with him. Eventually, he came to believe Mayra would never leave, so he stopped making an effort. He knew she would always come crawling back.

He leaned back, his youthful face full of arrogance. “I’m guessing she’ll come looking for me tonight. I know her too well. Without me, she can’t live.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the door swung open. Mayra appeared in the doorway, pushing the drink cart inside.
