Chapter 8 The Kind of Person Everyone Hates
Not far off, Mayra misjudged the scooter’s acceleration and suddenly lurched forward, slamming into a car.
She fell to the ground, her knee scraping the pavement, sending a sharp pain through her body.
The car owner got out, furious. “Are you serious? Can’t even ride a bike properly? Are you in a rush to die or something? This is a brand–new car. I just picked it up from the dealership! You’ll pay for this!”
Mayra glanced at the car logo. It was a Maserati.
Great. That 2 thousand dollars she had wasn’t nearly enough to cover the damage.
A crowd had quickly gathered, staring at the unlucky person who had crashed into a luxury car right off the bat.
The man grabbed Mayra by the sleeve. “You better pay up, or I’ll call the cops!”
She shifted her stance to ease the pain in her leg. “How about 2 thousand dollars? Would that be enough?”
The man thought he had heard wrong. His face turned red with rage. “Are you kidding me? What kind of offer is that?!”
Meanwhile, the light changed for Colten.
He looked over again, his expression turning colder, his gaze deepening.
Jared was about to hit the gas when Colten spoke up, his voice cool. “Go

handle it.”
Jared’s grip on the wheel tightened, his lips parted as if to say something, but he ultimately got out of the car.
The temperature outside was scorching, and sweat was dripping down Mayra’s forehead.
As she wondered who to ask for help, a young man walked over with a no–nonsense attitude.
J’Let’s call the traffic police first. How much is it? I’ll take care of her payment.”
The car owner had been ready to yell, but when he saw Jared step out of a rare, multi–million–dollar limited edition car, his heart skipped a beat.
This car was one of a kind in the entire Moonfell. He couldn’t afford to
mess with this.
Not wanting to wait for the police, he waved it off. “15 thousand dollars. Not wanting to wait for Just transfer it to me.
Jared transferred the money and turned to leave, but Mayra called after him.
Today, she was dressed in sporty casual clothes, her long legs and slim. waist accentuated. A playful little mole sat on her nose, adding a bit of warmth to her otherwise cold features.
“Uh, I don’t have enough money to pay you right now.”
Her eyes drifted toward the car, where she felt someone was still inside.
Jared waved his hand dismissively. “No need to pay.”
He was visibly annoyed, not wanting to waste any more time with Mayra.

But she walked toward the car. “Could I get your contact info? I’ll pay you.
as soon as I can.
Jared’s eyes filled with mockery. She acted like she didn’t know him but. was talking about paying up.
The Oliver family’s daughter couldn’t possibly not have 15 thousand dollars, right?
He was done playing along, curling his lips in disdain. “Ms. Mayra, you’re really overdoing it. I said no need for repayment. Just stay away from our car next time. You’re full of pretension and bad luck, and we don’t want any of it rubbing off on us.”
Mayra was a bit surprised. She had no memory of this person and couldn’t recall who he was.
But if he hated her so much, why would he even bother helping her?
She lowered her eyes and smiled faintly. “If you hate me so much, I really have to pay you now. Please give me your contact details. If not, I’ll go to the
person in the car and ask them. I need to know how to get in touch with you.”
Jared was not going to let her meet Colten. With a look of disgust, he scribbled down a string of numbers.
Mayra took them and bowed elegantly. “Thank you.”
Jared froze for a moment. This was the same person who used to ignore. everyone, acting rude and dismissive. Now she was actually polite?
He thought about it for a few seconds before sneering. “Probably just another new trick to chase after Ronan.”
Everyone in Moonfell knew Mayra’s reputation. She was the kind of person everyone hated.
