A buzzing sound filled his ears – a swarm of annoying flies seemed to have arrived.
Marcus Sterling walked forward calmly, bending at the waist and saying politely, “Mr Hayes, you’ve finally arrived. The marine environmental recycling project is almost finished. It’s waiting for your signature. When would it be convenient for you?”
As he spoke, his gaze swept over the child in Caleb’s arms.
The moment he saw that face, a sudden chill went through him.
It was because the child looked so much like Aurora Hayes, almost an identical replica.
Marcus couldn’t help but wipe the cold sweat from his forehead.
He tried to reassure himself. It must be a trick of the mind.
How could a woman like Aurora Hayes have any connection to the Hayes family?
Not seeing his wife come to greet him, Caleb frowned, impatiently loosened his tie, and directly ignored Marcus.
He strode purposefully towards the lounge.
Marcus gritted his teeth, his face flushed with embarrassment. He could only suppress his emotions, forcing a smile as he followed behind.
Caleb’s assistant gently patted Marcus on the shoulder. “Mr. Sterling, don’t overthink it. Mr. Hayes didn’t mean to be rude. He hasn’t seen his wife, so he’s not in a good mood. Oh, by the way, Mrs. Hayes was also here for an inspection today. Did you happen to see her?”

Marcus furrowed his brows, full of questions. Just as he was about to speak, he suddenly heard a piercing cry.
At that moment, Vanessa was tightly holding my struggling daughter, her long, red–painted nails digging cruelly into Lily’s arm.
“You little b*tch, move again and see if I don’t really kill you!”
Lily looked at Caleb Hayes, who had just walked past them.
She mustered all her strength to spit out the rag in her mouth and shrieked.
“Daddy!”
