“Is it going to take my death for you to finally stop?!” Jaxxon choked out.
Bethany suddenly threw herself onto Jaxxon, clinging to him with a death grip. Her voice was shrill with panic, nearly breaking. “Brother–in–law, you can’t die! I just want you to marry me–cut Megan off for good! That’s all I ask!“}]
Her nails dug deep into his arm, her grip seemed like claws. “You’ve always cared about me most! If you dare leave me behind–I’ll die right here in front of you!”
Jaxxon shoved her off, his voice icy. “And what’s the difference? Living like this is no better than being dead.“}]
He stared straight into her twisted expression, and continued, “Tell me, Bethany–are you doing this for your sister, or for yourself?“}
“I love you!” Bethany suddenly burst into laughter, a high–pitched, chilling sound that sent a cold shiver down his spine.}
“It’s so obvious–how have you not seen it?“D
“Enough!” Jaxxon finally snapped.§
“I’ve done everything you asked of me. But from now on, I won’t grant you a single thing–not one more favor. I’d rather live the rest of my life drowning in guilt than marry you.”
Looking into her increasingly deranged eyes, all he could think of was getting away.
With a sharp tug, he ripped out the 4V in his hand and walked out without looking back.”
Bethany had become a bottomless, insatiable monster. The more he gave, the more she took. And if he kept giving in, he knew that he would lose Megan forever.
So why not just burn everything down?}
Worst case, he’d go back to the bridge, like he did two years ago.
Back then, he thought: either Megan came back to him, or he jumped.
Because in his mind, she loved him too much to let him go.}

After getting our marriage certificate, Alec insisted on celebrating in style–by renting an entire cruise ship for dinner.”
Now, seated on the upper deck with a glass of red wine in hand, I watched the river’s glittering surface and finally began to feel at peace again.
Suddenly, Alec strutted over and stretched his arms in front of me like he was showing off.”
He was dressed in a sleek white tracksuit that hugged his broad shoulders and narrow waist, his long legs making him look like a model straight off a runway.
I couldn’t help but admit it–this man really had what it took to make people swoon.§
“Are you satisfied, wife?” he asked with a cheeky grin, leaning closer.
Flustered, I quickly looked away, trying to change the subject. “You rented a whole cruise just for dinner? Isn’t that a bit extravagant?”

“It didn’t cost me a cent,” he replied with a laugh. “All the cruise ships on this river, my famil
I blinked. “But–but in high school, didn’t you say your dad was just a ship captain savin He led me to the railing and casually laced our fingers together, placing my hand on his back. “My dad worked even harder to build a dowry for his future daughter–in–law. And somehow, one thing led to another.” He shrugged like it was nothing.D
Then, with a playful glint in his eye, he reached out and pinched my nose. “Think about it–I’ve got money, looks, and I’m fiercely loyal. That idiot Jaxxon had no clue what he lost. But you? You’ve got top–tier taste in husbands!”
I couldn’t help laughing, realizing he was still hung up on Jaxxon’s insult.
“I promise I’d never lay a hand on you,” he said suddenly, eyes turning serious–then added with a mischievous wink. “Of course, in some areas, I’ll be extra… vigorous. Gotta make sure you’re thoroughly happy.”
“Alec!” I gasped, face burring as I clamped a hand over his mouth.
“Can you not say those things so blatantly?“}]
He nodded obediently. Then, the next second, he bent down and gave my lips a quick, teasing bite.§
Grinning proudly, he declared, “If you really want to shut me up, that’s the method you should use.”
Before I could react, he raised both hands in the air and shouted like a kid, “My first kiss–guarded for 28 years, was finally given away!“}
I froze, my raised hand suspended in mid–air, and a hint of guilt welled up in my heart.
Looking at his boyish grin, I could only shake my head with a sigh.”
Forget it. If he’s happy, that’s enough.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed on the table.
On the screen, Jaxxon’s name appeared.
Alec raised an eyebrow. Without hesitation, I pressed the speaker
