“She’s got a good heart, go ask her instead.” Valerie looked disgusted, trying to push the little girl towards me. But the girl latched onto her, refusing to let go. Valerie got annoyed and slapped the little girl across the face, knocking her to the ground.
The girl fell at my feet, pitifully grabbing my ankle. “Sister, please help me…” Her hand felt thin and hard like a withered branch, her large eyes filled with tears, blood at the corners of her mouth and nostrils. This child was truly pitiful!
I wiped the tears and blood from her face and had Ryker buy her a few steamed buns. The little girl clutched the buns and burst into sobs. She cried louder and louder, tears gushing like a fountain.
Meanwhile, Valerie had already bought the old man’s parrot. She held the birdcage and walked over to me, gloating. “Sorry, Sister, you were a step too slow again. This hidden quest is mine now!” She stroked the parrot’s head. “My sweetie, whisper the hidden quest to me?”
The parrot looked at the little girl and excitedly squawked, “Fulfill her wish, and receive the Angel’s Tear item!” Then, it looked at me. “Congratulations, miss! You’ve completed the hidden quest. Good luck to you, bye–bye!” The parrot flapped its wings and flew away.
The little girl transformed into a teardrop–shaped blue gemstone, hovering before me. This was a truly unexpected surprise! I excitedly grabbed it and tucked it into my pocket. Valerię, thinking she was so smart, had snatched at peanuts while letting a fortune slip through her fingers. She regretfully threw the birdcage to the ground and stormed off in a huff.
