Blake was wearing the coat I had given him. It used to fit perfectly, but now it hung loose, like it was draped over a scarecrow.
Seeing me, his dull eyes suddenly lit up. “Baby, baby, I finally see you again!”
“I know everything now. It was all Scarlett Zhao’s lies, and she was the one who posted those videos online.”
“I’ve talked to my family. We’re definitely not letting Scarlett Zhao and those men off the hook. They won’t have it easy in prison, especially
Scarlett Zhao’s cell. It’s full of female perverts…”
“I got revenge for you. Please forgive me, okay? Oh, and…”
He eagerly opened the suitcase behind him, pulling out a wedding dress adorned with diamonds, looking at me pleadingly:
“Didn’t you want the most beautiful wedding dress in the world? Look, do you like this one?”
I stood motionless in the doorway. Blake pursed his lips and mumbled, adding:
“If you don’t like it, we can custom–order something else. Whatever you want…
“We can have a dream wedding, a wedding of the century. Every woman will envy you…”
I stared at him expressionlessly, unable to understand what I had ever liked about him.

He could endure humiliation and stay with me for Scarlett Zhao’s “favor,” and then, just as I joyfully welcomed the most important wedding of my life, he dealt me a fatal blow.
Now, “suddenly enlightened,” he was, again for “favor,” mercilessly sending the woman he once held so dear into prison.
Seeing that I wasn’t going to take the wedding dress, Blake pulled out over a dozen property deeds.
He introduced each one, detailing what prime locations they were, promising us a wonderfully happy life once we moved in.
I only felt as if someone was slowly slicing my heart into pieces.
Yes, a perfect wedding dress, an enviable wedding of the century, luxury mansions – how I had longed for all of it once.
But it was all fake. His identity as a poor boy was fake, his love for me was fake, even the future he planned was fake.
I couldn’t stand it anymore. I raised the knife and challenged him, “Blake, have you played the part of the devoted lover so long that you actually believe it? Open your eyes and look around! How dare you say these things?!”
Blake snapped out of his trance, staring blankly in the direction of the knife’s tip. Only then did he see the large green painted words on the wall.
His face was terrifyingly pale, and he kept murmuring, “How could this happen…?”
I strode out the door, violently shoving his face against the wall. “Blake, do you think a few words of apology can make up for everything? In everyone else’s eyes, I’m completely ruined now!”
“Blake, you destroyed my life! And you still dare to ask for my forgiveness! How could you?!”
Blake’s face was pressed against the wall, miserably snot and tears streaming down. “I’m so sorry, truly sorry. I didn’t know things would turn out like this. Please let me make it up to you. I’ll take care of you for the rest of your life!”
“Oh, and your grandma too. We’ll bring her to North City to live out her golden years, okay?”
Hearing him mention Grandma Rose, my rage flared even more. I roughly dragged him across the yard, pulling him towards Grandma Rose’s window.
“Grandma, hello, I’m Harper’s fiancé…”
Blake was still trying to maintain his composure, reaching out as if to shake Grandma Rose’s hand.
My temples throbbed. I roared, “Blake, look closely! My grandma is dead!”
He recoiled as if burned, his face turning ashen.
“Blake, listen carefully. You, and Scarlett Zhao, killed my grandma.”
“Until my dying breath, I. Will. Never. Forgive. You!!!”
Originally, I had wanted to die with Blake.
But if I died too, who would see Grandma Rose off on her final journey?
Let him live, at least until Grandma Rose’s funeral is over.
