Chapter 15
Lina ran into Bruno again exactly one week after she moved back to Golden Bay
She had just wrapped up her onboarding as a senior designer when her boss handed her a hefty c
contract
“This client specifically asked for you, Lina It’s a big deal if you can land this, it’ll put our branch on the map in Golden Bay. You’ve got to make it happen!”
Lina stared at the folder, a little stunned. “They asked for me?”
A crease formed between her brows. Something about this didn’t sit right.
Sure, she’d grown up in Golden Bay, but back then she was just another girl struggling to get by. Even after getting connected with Bruno and the Morris family, she was never really someone people noticed.
Then she’d left for England, buried herself in architecture for two years, and spent another three slowly working her way up from rookie to senior designer. She’d made a bit of a name for herself, but definitely not enough for anyone to be requesting her by name–especially now that she was back in her home country, where nobody really knew her yet. So why her?
The thought nagged at her. She looked up at her design director, Cindy H
“If I’m supposed to handle this, shouldn’t I at least know who I’m dealing with?” Cindy didn’t say anything, so Lina pressed, “Who’s the client?
Cindy grinned, eyes sparkling like she was letting Lina in on a secret. “Morris Corporation.”
Silence. Lina had half–suspected it already, but the confirmation still left her speechless, the contract heavy in her hands.
Cindy didn’t seem to notice. She took a sip of water and started in on her usual pep talk.
“Lina, if I’d known you had connections at Morris, I would’ve given you my job as design director! Why settle for being a senior designer?”
Lina shook her head, her face serious. She looked down for a moment before answering. “I don’t have any connections. Even if I did, i want to earn that director’s seat on my own.”
Cindy blinked, surprised at her answer?!
She studied Lina for a second, then laughed. “Well, connection or not, you came back with me, and I trust you. But if you want my job, you’ll have to wait in line.“}
She smirked. “I’m n still young, and Wild Game isn’t looking to have two design directors fighting for the top spot just yet.”
Lina smiled. “Then I’ll just have to work harder and beat you to it.”
In the end, Lina took on the assignment
Wild Game was new to the domestic scene and hungry for a breakthrough. Partnering with Morris Corporation was the perfect chance to make a splash.”
rtunity like that.

y no to an opportunity
But even though she thought she was ready. Lina still couldn’t help but sneak an extra glance at Bruno when they finally met again.
Five years had changed him.
He cared himself with a quiet authority now–more reserved, more powerful.”
The moment he walked into the meeting room, his eyes found her at the front.!!
He didn’t say a word, but the look in his eyes was intense–like he was holding back a storm of feelings, a mixture of longing and hurt.
Lina couldn’t figure out where those feelings came from, and honestly, she didn’t want to. Once everyone was settled, she got straight to her presentation
Minute by minute, she laid out her ideas. When she finished, the other executives looked genuinely impressed. Only Bruno just sat there, caught off guard, watching her with an awe that almost made her feel like she was shining E
