Chapter 14
When Bryan called, Austin was reluctantly peeling lychees for his beloved sister under his mother’s coercion.
His hands were full of sticky juice, which made it inconvenient, so he asked her to take out the phone.
Hailey picked up the note and, upon seeing it, her face lit up with a smile for a moment, but quickly returned to normal.
She pressed the answer button, held the phone to Austin’s ear, and then took a bite of fresh lychee.
The jelly–like soft fruit flesh burst between the lips and teeth, filling the entire throat with a sweet aroma.
It was really sweet.
Bryan said something unknown, and Austin furrowed his brow, turning his head with a strange expression.
Facing her brother’s strange gaze, Hailey remained calm. She grabbed a few tissues and wiped his hand haphazardly before handing him the phone.
Austin was about to ask when the butler suddenly brought Andrew in.
As soon as she saw him, Madam Lewis quickly stood up and greeted him.
The two of them exchanged a few greetings and Andrew walked over to sit next to Hailey.
My brother–in–law came, and I couldn’t bring myself to ask those words that were on the tip of my tongue.
Austin had no choice but to give up. He took his phone and walked outside, then he laughed and cursed as he spoke.
“Bry, why are you bothering my sister when she was busy? She was occupied and couldn’t take your call.”
Were you really busy or just pretending to be busy?
Bryan couldn’t guess the situation, and his tone became even colder.
“Was her injury serious?”
Upon hearing these words, a hint of astonishment flashed in Austin’s eyes.
“Did you also know about her getting injured? Why didn’t you inform me earlier? Otherwise, I would have gone to Northvale to pick her up, and we could have had a drink together as friends.”
Bryan is now full of thoughts about why Hailey broke up with him, and he is not in the mood to talk or drink.
He pressed his forehead and brought the digressed topic back.
“Was she really busy? I have something to ask her in advance, is it really inconvenient?”
Austin turned around and glanced at Andrew, noticing that he had peeled a lychee and handed it to his sister. A smile immediately spread across his face, as he could tell from his tone that something was not quite right.
“I was really busy, my friend. Would I lie to you?”
Upon hearing this smiling voice, Bryan’s already panicked heart became even heavier.
He knew that this was probably just an excuse.
Austin always cared for his sister, and he was certain that Hailey didn’t want to answer the phone, so she made up an excuse to deceive him.
He was extremely anxious, but he couldn’t reveal too much in front of his friends.
He could only suppress the feeling of annoyance in his heart and was about to book a ticket to Seahaven.
Austin on the other end of the phone seemed to remember something and sighed several times.

“Do you have any free time next week? There is a happy event at home, would you like to come and have some fun? You all have given me face.”
Bryan was worried about not being able to find a suitable excuse to fly over.
Upon hearing these words, he immediately set aside the mouse and casually asked about the time.
“When? Let me check if I have any free time.”
“Next Friday, even if you’re busy, you have to make time for me! Otherwise, I’ll cut you off the next time we meet!”
Five days later, it wasn’t too long.
Bryan nodded and before hanging up the phone, he felt uneasy and emphasized once again.
“Remember to tell Hails to give me a call.”
“I got it, I will definitely convey Mr. Reid’s words without missing a single word. She is really busy right now, whether she will come back or not is her own business!”
Were you really busy?
Weren’t you injured? Work had to be put on hold, what could you be busy with?
Bryan was suspicious and suddenly heard Madam Lewis‘ voice on the phone.
“Austin, we went to the bridal shop first, hurry up and come over!”
Bridal shop? Who got married?
