Chapter 6
Bryan’s smile froze on his lips.
Looking at her cold expression, he realized that the little girl might be angry.
I walked up to her, took her hand, and like performing magic, placed the necklace in the palm of my hand.
“Sorry, yesterday I was busy going to get you a birthday gift, so I forgot you at the villa. Can you forgive me this time?”
Did he think that she would forgive him by using such a flawed and full of loopholes lie?
Hailey stared at him, not saying anything, nor taking away the necklace.
Bryan sighed as he waited for her response, but she never came. He picked up the necklace and waved it in front of her.
“Why have you been so absent–minded lately? Is there something bothering you?”
Hailey finally looked away and turned her head to look out the window. She spoke softly, “It is quite troubling. One of my friends recently discovered that her long–term boyfriend had been deceiving her. She found out the truth and came to me to vent and asked if she should forgive him.”
It was all for such a small matter.
He chuckled for a moment and gave a very sensible answer.
What’s there to be upset about? As long as it was deception, it’s not worth forgiving. Let’s break up.
“Any deception is not worthy of forgiveness.”
Hailey learned his tone and repeated the sentence.
Bryan nodded with a smile and ruffled her hair. “That’s right, my little girl shouldn’t be deceived in the future.”
Watching his actions, she finally revealed a faint smile.
“This sentence, you and me, encouraged each other.”
Bryan furrowed his brow and was about to ask what it meant when the phone in his pocket suddenly rang.
He didn’t even look and casually pressed the answer button.
“Who is it?”
“it was me, Bry. Let’s talk.”
The two people were close, and Hailey could hear that it was Caroline’s voice.
She looked up and saw the expression on Bryan’s face freeze for a few seconds, then quickly return to normal.
He murmured quietly, hastily hung up the phone, and then found an excuse to leave.
Looking at the necklace that was left on the table, Hailey got up and walked into the room.
After rushing for two hours to finish her work, she thought about taking a break and casually clicked on her Facebook status.
As she slid down, she saw Caroline, who had just added a post yesterday, had posted a status update half an hour ago.
“Eight years have passed, and you are still the same young boy who softens up as long as I coax you. It’s really nice.”
The picture below is a pair of hands.
Looking at those slender hands and the familiar watch on the wrist, Hailey smiled gently and closed her phone.
In the following days, Bryan did not come back again, only occasionally sending a message saying he was busy. Chapter 6

Hailey had a clear understanding of his itinerary through Caroline’s Facebook status.
Went to the beach to watch the sunrise, went to the amusement park to watch the fireworks, went camping in the countryside…
Hailey knew that Caroline had sent it for her eyes only.
But she did not question angrily as Caroline imagined, instead she was wholeheartedly busy packing her luggage.
Over the years in Northvale, she bought a lot of things, and it would take several days to clear them out batch by batch.
She donated all her valuable items, and after the charity organization came and took everything away, she was just about to take a rest when Bryan’s phone call came in.
She picked up the phone, but it wasn’t him speaking, it was his friend Roy Evans.
“Hailey, Bry and someone else got into a conflict, they want to play a life–or–death race, come to the club quickly and persuade them!”
Upon hearing these words, Hailey’s right eyelid twitched several times.
After hesitating for a while, she finally picked up the keys and flagged down a car to rush to the club.

As the car arrived, Roy, who was waiting at the door, ran over to lead the way and explained the whole situation on the way.
A few days ago, Caroline spotted a pair of earrings at the auction house. Bry went to the bathroom and was intercepted by someone. Seeing how much she liked them, Bry insisted on finding that person and buying them. The person was also a race car enthusiast and had plenty of money, so he suggested making a big bet. The two of them agreed to have a race, and whoever won would get the necklace.
“If it was just a regular lane, I wouldn’t bother you, but they chose the path of death, that route is extremely dangerous. Hailey, you are Bry’s girlfriend, so please think of a way to persuade them!”
