Chapter 2
The next day at seven o’clock, Hailey’s biological clock woke her up on time,
As she opened her eyes, she saw Bryan tidying up his shirt in front of the mirror.
His daily routine has always been upside down, suddenly waking up so carly. In Hailey’s impression, it was the first time.
He heard footsteps and turned around to see her. He asked her, “Sister, is this outfit cool today?”
He was a natural clothes hanger, and any black shirt looked good on him on regular days. Today, he dressed up specially and looked even more handsome, to the point where there were no words to describe it. With just a lazy glance, he could captivate a group of young girls.
She didn’t know why he suddenly started paying so much attention to his appearance. In the past, she would have been mesmerized and her heart would have skipped a beat, but now she just nodded calmly and said, “Hmm, looks handsome.”
Bryan didn’t notice her strangeness and smirked, “I had a party today, you stay at home obediently and wait for me to bring you dessert when I come back.”
After saying that, he turned around and left.
After watching his figure disappear, Hailey wanted to go pour herself a glass of water, but she noticed his phone left on the table.
When she picked it up, she accidentally pressed the power button.
The screen lit up, revealing a new message.
Person from the note “Caroline“.
“Bry, it has been eight years since we last met. I am really looking forward to today’s gathering, how about you?”
After seeing the news, Hailey’s footsteps came to a halt.
My first love returned to their home country today.
No wonder you got up so early, and even dressed up carefully, with a smile on your face.
The next second, the door was pushed open.
Bryan, who had turned back halfway, suddenly came back and took away the phone. Before leaving, he quickly scanned the content on it, hesitated for a moment, and couldn’t help but glance at Hailey, who was having a meal.
“Did you just look at my phone?”
Hailey glanced up slightly, her gaze calm, “No, what’s wrong?”
He smiled, as if he had let out a sigh of relief, and said “It’s nothing” before turning around and leaving.
This was the first time Hailey suddenly found it a bit difficult to understand him.
He was always in love with his first love, and all the girlfriends he found were just substitutes for Caroline. In theory, he shouldn’t have cared about her at all, so why did he care if she had discovered the truth?
Was it afraid of losing her?
Hailey didn’t want to be presumptuous, let alone, she understood that losing was already a done deal.
After finishing breakfast, Hailey sat in front of the computer and opened the drawing software.
She was a cartoonist, and after she returned home, she had to be busy with her wedding, so she probably couldn’t work for a long time.
While she had some free time, she planned to finish the remaining drafts.
After being busy all morning, she packed up the half–day’s work and sent it to the editor, then had lunch.
In the afternoon, taking advantage of the good weather, she cleared out a lot of things.
Couples‘ cups, keychains, scarves, jackets…
These are all the things she bought over the past few years, gradually filling up a large box.
As soon as she saw these, she would be reminded of the helpless look in Bryan’s eyes every time she handed him something and insisted that he put it on.
“All these are things that little girls like. Do you really want your brother to take them out and be laughed at by his friends?”
Thinking of these words, Hailey dragged the suitcase and came downstairs, throwing everything, including the box, into the trash bin.
Now it’s better, no one will make fun of me anymore.
Having finished everything efficiently, Hailey was about to leave when she turned around and bumped into a refreshing embrace.
Bryan, who came back at an unknown time, wrapped one arm around her shoulder and used the other hand to play with her sweaty bangs.
“What did you lose? Why are you sweating so much?”
“Useless garbage.”
Hailey found an excuse without changing her expression, and Bryan didn’t suspect anything. He grabbed her and went upstairs.
As the elevator door opened, the sanitation truck came by, rumbling loudly.
Watching the box of things being loaded onto the car, Hailey finally looked away.
Garbage, where was there so much garbage?
Actually, if he had just taken a glance, he would have noticed the clues, but he didn’t ask anything.
It was just because I didn’t care.
Hailey’s eyes flickered with a hint of self–mockery, and she paused slightly as her peripheral vision caught the lingering smile on his face.
Bryan had a pair of captivating peach blossom eyes that could easily mesmerize people. Whenever he smiled, it was impossible to look away.
Perhaps knowing this, most of the time, he had a smile on his face.
Others thought he had a good temperament, but only Hailey knew that his smile was only superficial and did not reach his eyes.
All day today, whenever he smiled, there was a genuine joy in his eyes.
I saw Caroline and it seemed like she was really happy.
As soon as Bryan entered the house, he noticed that it had become quite empty.
He looked around in all directions and had a surprised expression on his face.
“Did someone break into the house? Why does it feel like we lost a lot of things? Where is the water cup? The throw pillow is also missing?”
Just as Hailey was about to answer, Bryan’s phone started ringing several times.
He glanced at the information, quickly putting it out of his mind. He walked to the study on his own and before closing the door, he gave a word of advice.
“Hails, I have something to do, you can go to sleep first, no need to wait for me.”
Hailey didn’t ask anything and went back to the bedroom alone.

The clock on the wall struck past twelve, and her phone, which she had placed under the pillow, started vibrating frantically.
“Hails, I wish you a happy birthday!”
Happy 23rd birthday to Hails baby! Remember to eat the cake!
One after another, they were all birthday wishes.
Dad, mom, brother, friends, and classmates, who were far away, all sent their blessings.
Only the boyfriend who is close at hand seems to have forgotten about this matter.
