Chapter 12
“Lena?”
The light was turned on, and the sound of calling echoed in the empty house.
There was no response inside the house.
Hunter looked around, alarm bells ringing in his mind. He quickly walked towards the bedroom,
be the wardrobe door was wide open, and
Lena’s clothes were all gone.
On the dressing table, all the skincare products she often used were gone, and even a thin layer of dust had settled on the table.
While the empty photo frame was placed on the side, their picture was torn into pieces and thrown into the trash can.
He sat down on the bed and suddenly noticed a prominent sticky note on the bedside table.
Above is Lena’s graceful handwriting, with the words “Let’s break up“.
Hunter picked up the note, his hand shaking even more violently.
The note slipped from his hand, and he looked around in confusion, only to realize that this home no longer bore any trace of Lena.
She really left.
How could she just leave without saying goodbye?
It’s impossible… How could she just abandon their eight years of relationship like that…

In his moment of sadness, Hunter’s gaze fell upon the silver USB drive next to the envelope.
He looked puzzled at the USB drive, unsure of its contents, but his intuition told him that there seemed to be something Lena wanted to say
inside.
Hunter pulled himself together and immediately rushed to the study, fumbling to insert the USB drive into the computer.
Hunter thought Lena was just throwing a tantrum, leaving the clues on the USB drive for him to find her.
He would apologize to Lena and coax her back, regardless of past grievances, once he finds her.
After a burst of noise, a sharp female voice came from the computer.
“I told you, on the anniversary day I knew Hunter would definitely save me, so I deliberately had someone break the chandelier!”
“You were lucky this time, not getting crushed to death. But let me tell you, being lucky once doesn’t mean you’ll be lucky every time. As long as you refuse to let go, I won’t let you off the hook!”
This… This was Eleanor’s voice.
On the anniversary day, he rushed up to protect Eleanor without realizing that all of this came from her hands!
After the accident, Lena nursed her injuries for a long time and even suffered from serious sequelae.
Suddenly, Hunter felt a tingling sensation on her scalp as Eleanor, who appeared as innocent as a white lotus flower in front of her, did something so malicious!
His blood froze instantly, and he stared at the screen as if doing so could

make the sound clearer.
And then, he heard Eleanor throw Lena’s favorite little cat off the building, and threatened that if he jumped off the balcony, he would believe anyone.
Immediately there was a loud noise, Hunter heard his own voice. He chose not to believe Lena, but instead kept speaking up for Eleanor, blaming Lena for her malice and shamelessness.
“Hunter, we have known each other for so many years. Am I really the person you think I am in your heart?”
The moment he heard these words, Hunter felt his heart being cut like a knife. Lena’s words revealed a deep sense of despair, and only now did he
realize it.
When Eleanor regained her memory, she remembered being found by him in the fishing village, where she lied and claimed to be his girlfriend. Looking back now, the encounter seemed too coincidental, perhaps even the so–called savior was just an excuse.
Hunter’s throat tightened, and he slammed his fist hard on the desk.
Hunter didn’t understand why he had repeatedly hurt the woman he had loved for eight years, to love a fishmonger.
At that moment, the silence in the room was interrupted by the ringing of a cell phone, and the caller was none other than the culprit Eleanor.
As soon as he answered the phone, a sweet and soft voice of a woman could be heard on the other end.
“Hunter, where are you now?”
“I was just about to go to the company to bring you dinner, but the assistant said that you didn’t work overtime today at all. Where did you

go?”
“I prepared your favorite meal for you. When are you coming back?”
Upon hearing her feigned concern, Hunter clenched the phone in his hand, suppressing his anger.
“I have some personal matters to attend to, you go ahead and sleep first.
“Was Ms. Steele looking for you?”
“I know I shouldn’t ask too much, but didn’t you tell me you would be with me? Are you going to see Ms. Steele again to abandon me once more?”
Upon hearing this, Hunter clenched his back molars.
How dare she mention Lena.
Did she forget that it was her own despicable means that hurt Lena? It was what pushed him further and further away, until he left without a word.
Hunter sneered, controlled his emotions, gritted his teeth and said, “No, I’m almost done with things. I was just thinking about chatting with you. Wait for me at home.”
