The assistant on the side advised, “Mr. Malfoy, the old man knew he would get angry…”
“Yes.” He only said one word.

The electric needle buzzed, each prick feeling like it was piercing a hole in Elodie’s heart.
Two hours later, Sebastian walked out, holding his bleeding chest, his face pale but determined to get in the car.
“Go to Big Sur Cliffs,” he said to the driver.
“No! That place is too dangerous, you just got a tattoo-”
“Let’s go now.”
Elodie sat in the car and suddenly remembered the criteria for choosing a partner that Sophia had mentioned.
“I want the kind that will tattoo my name on your heart.”
“There was a flower on the Big Sur Cliffs… he had to pick it for me.”
She laughed, and as she laughed, tears started to fall.
“Let’s go, she said to the driver, “I’m not following anymore.“”
That evening, she came across Sophia’s Moments.
A photo of a Thorn Rose blooming on a cliff, with the caption: “Someone crossed mountains and valleys just to pick a flower for me.

At 3 o’clock in the morning, Sebastian came back.
Covered in blood, with a broken right hand, but Sophia’s lips were still curled up in a slight smile.
The next day, Elodie was about to leave when Sebastian came out of his room.
His face was pale, his right arm wrapped in bandages, and the collar of his shirt slightly open.
“Ms. Elodie, he said hoarsely, “I was in a car accident last night and need a few more days to rest. I won’t be able to protect you for the time being.
Car accident?
It was clearly a fall while climbing the cliff.

But she didn’t expose his lie, faint “hmm” and walked out straight.
Today was the day she said goodbye to her best friends.
High–end club, VIP private room.
“Come on, tonight we’re not going home until we’re drunk! Best friend Sadie Rowe wrapped her arm around Elodie’s shoulder. “Our Ms. Elodie is getting married soon, she’ll be Mrs. Watson from now on. We have to celebrate!“”
The compartment was filled with people, all of whom were her closest friends over the years.
The Champagne tower sparkled in the light, the music was deafening, but Elodie felt strangely quiet.

“If you ask me, having a vegetable husband is so great! Sadie swayed. her glass drunkenly, “Rich, good–looking, and no need to take care of him, it’s like the perfect marriage!“”
“Exactly! another friend chimed in, “And with the Watson family’s vast estate, it will all be yours in the future!“”
Elodie chuckled lightly, running her fingertips along the rim of her cup. “Once you’re married, you have to behave yourself a bit more. You have to save face for the Watson family.”
Everyone was stunned for a moment, then they all started talking at once, saying, “Mr. Watson will definitely wake up!”
“You are so beautiful, and he was willing to sleep all the time?”
“That’s right! Elodie is the most beautiful woman in the circle. How could she possibly remain single?”
Elodie laughed as she listened to them ramble on, drinking one glass. after another.
When they said goodbye, Sadie suddenly hugged her and choked out, “Your dad is really no good… and that Sophia, do you want us to teach her a lesson?”
“No need, Elodie patted her back, “Once I’m gone, all of this won’t matter to me anymore.”
She hugged each person one by one until everyone’s eyes turned red.
After finishing the bill, Elodie passed by the next room and heard a familiar voice.
“Was this flower really so difficult to pick?”
Chapter 6
“Exactly! The Big Sur Cliffs, that place where even professional climbing teams dare not easily venture.”
Elodie saw Sophia playing with the Thorn Rose through the slightly open door, while her friend had a curious look on her face: “He must be crazy to pick that. When he brought the flowers yesterday, I think I saw him tattoo your name on his chest! Is he really planning to pursue you?”
“Just a bodyguard, and he thinks he’s worthy?”
“I was the one Mr. Malfoy had his eye on now, she said, stroking the broken petals of the rose. “But Sebastian is quite good–looking, it wouldn’t hurt to have him as a lover occasionally.“”
