Chapter 212
Chapter 212
Timmy had been slouching lazily in his chair, but when he heard Clayton’s words, he suddenly perked up. He slowly sat up straight, stared at Clayton, and said, “Tell me about your conditions.”
Clayton kept his eyes downcast, his hands tightly clasped together. Due to the excessive force, his deformed middle finger trembled slightly.
Deep in his heart, he was engaged in a fierce struggle, He had been a man with principles, but once the principles he held contradicted his goal, he would get rid of them instantly.
After a long while, he looked up, and even his tone became colder than before. “T&J Transport is your family’s business. You know my current situation- I need a job to make a living.”
Timmy looked at Clayton with a skeptical expression as his request was surprisingly simple.
Timmy had approached many people regarding Jacob’s case, but most lawyers had refused, saying there was no hope of winning.
Although Clayton couldn’t appear in court as a lawyer, if he could genuinely help reduce Wyatt’s sentence, he could have demanded a substantial reward. But Clayton had only proposed such a seemingly trivial condition, which truly baffled Timmy.
Facing Timmy’s doubtful gaze, Clayton gave a self–mocking smile. He took a slow sip of coffee and then said, “Let’s talk about the lawsuit first. If your brother can successfully get a reduced sentence, I believe you won’t refuse to do me another small favor.”
When Yann returned to Royal House, he saw the living room floor covered with open boxes.
Audrey and Amelia both had face masks on, sitting cross–legged on the floor. They were taking one sheet from each box and packing it separately with five other sheets.
“When did you get back?” Yann asked Amelia.
The clay mask on Amelia’s face had dried, making it hard for her to speak clearly, so she mumbled, “Last night.”
Yann stepped over the piles of empty boxes and walked up to Audrey, kneeling down on one knee in front of her. Audrey looked up at him, and Yann leaned down to peck her neck.
Audrey started and tried to pull back, but it was too late. Then she glanced at Amelia in a panic, feeling it was inappropriate to be so affectionate in front
of an elder.
Yann didn’t care at all. He casually picked Audrey up in his arms and placed her on the sofa. “What’s for dinner?”
“Zoe is preparing it,” Audrey said, pointing to the kitchen.
Zoe came out wearing an apron. Seeing Yann sitting beside Audrey, gently smoothing her messy hair, she smiled with relief. “I’ve prepared steak and asparagus for dinner. Is there anything else you need?“/
Yann took an envelope from his bag and handed it to, Zoe. “This is your salary for last month.”
Zoe looked at Audrey, and when she saw her smiling and nodding, she took the envelope with both hands. “Thank you, Mr. Winifred,” said Zoe.
“Do you want soup?” Yann asked Audrey. “How about corn chowder?”
“Eating that at night will make me gain weight.” Audrey had casually mentioned wanting to try corn chowder that morning, but she hadn’t expected him
to remember.
“Add a corn chowder then,” Yann ordered Zoe. He then touched Audrey’s face mask with the back of his hand.

Audrey checked the time and raised her chin, indicating that he could remove the mask. Yann simply picked her up and carried her to the bathroom, not only helping her remove the mask but also washing her face.
After starting to cook the soup, Zoe opened the envelope and found it contained 300 dollars more than Audrey had promised. She looked back and saw Audrey and Yann walking out of the bathroom hand in hand.
They seemed to be talking about something funny, as Audrey grinned and elbowed him in the ribs. This warm scene was something Zoe had never witnessed when working at Clayton’s house. Zoe bit her lip hard, almost moved to tears.
“Zoe?” Audrey suddenly appeared at the kitchen door and startled Zoe. Audrey asked, “Are you okay? Why are your eyes red?”
“I’m fine. I just yawned.” Zoe quickly rubbed her eyes and took out the envelope to ask Audrey, “Did Mr. Winifred give too much?”
“No.” Audrey directly stuffed the envelope into Zoe’s pocket. “He said you work carefully and cook well. If the Gomez family doesn’t plan to hire you anymore, would you like to work here long–term?”
“Of course I do!” Zoe said happily. “It should be soon.”
Audrey went to the fridge to get fruits. When she heard this, she turned around, wondering if Brooke had quarreled with Miguel again.
Zoe could see her worry and turned down the heat a bit. “After Ivan went to boarding school, Mrs. Gomez seems to have figured things out.”
“She seldom stays at home now, saying she wants to prove her value. Mr. Gomez is busy with work and doesn’t eat at home much, so I haven’t been to their house for days,” Zoe added.
Audrey nodded. “If she doesn’t need you to work for them anymore, just come here.”
The dinner was delicious, and Audrey ate a lot. Yann was worried about her indigestion, so he only allowed her to eat a little dessert and took her for a walk in the community after the meal.
The renovation of the villa not far from Audrey’s house was nearing completion. Workers were carrying furniture inside, including a piano.
“Slow down, slow down. This imported piano is worth tens of thousands of dollars. Don’t crash it,” Lucas urged the workers to be careful.
There was also an elderly man who looked like a butler, holding a stick in his hand and pointing at the house’s decoration, seemingly dissatisfied.
After arranging the piano, Lucas trotted up to the man and humbly explained something.
When the elderly man turned around and saw Yann, his arrogant demeanor instantly faded, and he bowed deeply to Yann from a distance.
Lucas also saw Audrey and Yann and was startled.
He knew that anyone living in Royal House was no ordinary person. The owner of the villa he was decorating was ver tens of thousands of dollars.
The old man’s air of ordering people around clearly marked him as a butler from a wealthy family.
rous–even a toilet had cost
The fact that this old man was so respectful to the couple indicated they were more powerful than his own masters, so Lucas also bowed.
Audrey looked up at Yann and found his eyes were a bit cold. She squeezed Yann’s fingers, and he withdrew his gaze, continuing to walk with Audrey
“Do you know them?” Audrey asked.
Yann nodded.
“Are they from Ashbourne?” Audrey asked with a teasing smile. “They came for you.” The second half of the sentence was a statement.
Royal House had a low occupancy rate. Ironhaven embraced many rich businessmen, but few of them were qualified to live there.

The owner of that villa had renovated it before moving in, showing a demand for quality of life. Such people were mostly from more economically developed cities.
Yann looked even more annoyed. He put his arm around her shoulders and asked, “When will you go back to Ashbourne with me?”

Audrey was being hugged by him, so she inevitably staggered and almost stepped on her own shoes. “Are you going to announce our marriage at your company?”
Yann wanted to say something, and finally, he just nodded.
Audrey smiled and said, “Well, you can arrange the trip. I just happen to want to go to Ashbourne too.”
Yann suddenly stopped and looked straight at her, as if to confirm whether she was joking or serious.
Audrey looked into his eyes and asked, “What, do you regret it?”
Yann lifted her chin and said, “Don’t go back on your word.”
Just as they were about to kiss, a mobile phone rang in the quiet night. Yann paused but still kissed Audrey. He only answered the phone after the kiss.
“My house is renovated. Come to my housewarming party.” a woman’s capable voice came from the phone, clearly audible in the quiet night.
