Rose glanced at Houston’s moody, handsome face and softly urged, “Wait for me over there. I need to speak with him.”
With a reluctant nod, Houston stepped aside..
Rose led Jackson into the sales office lounge. Once seated, she wasted no time getting to the point. I’m sorry, Mr. Jackson. You’re an incredible person, but you’re not my type.
Jackson was startled, not expecting rejection. “Ms. Rose, if I may ask, what kind of man is your type?”
Rose gestured towards Houston in the crowd. “Someone like him.”
Jackson’s jaw dropped. How could a Kingsford College graduate like himself lose out to a real estate consultant? Feeling uneasy, he asked. “Ms. Rose, what do you like about him?”
Rose smiled graciously. “He’s very handsome, kind, and elegant. Most importantly, he’s easy to get along with.”
Jackson stared at Houston’s cold, reserved expression and couldn’t reconcile it with Rose’s words. He was convinced she was
simply trying to politely turn him down.
After making her feelings clear, Rose became distant, leaving Jackson with no choice but to leave. As he walked past Houston, who was observing with amusement, Houston teased, “Didn’t work out, huh?”
Jackson forced a grin. “Ms. Rose said she prefers someone like you. These days, women seem more drawn to appearances.”
I am far more than just a handsome face. Houston didn’t respond, though he was secretly quite pleased.
With a smirk, he patted Jackson on the shoulder. “She has excellent taste.”
Jackson left, looking defeated.
Rose approached Houston moments later, smiling warmly. “Houston, what brings you here?”
Houston handed her a brochure. “I know you’ve been busy, so I came to help you look at houses, Here’s one I think might like. Take a look!
Rose opened the brochure and froze. The five–story design was unmistakably a townhouse villa.
“Houston, my family can’t afford a house like this,” she said, feeling embarrassed.

Leaning in, Houston whispered softly. “The developer owes my company some money and has agreed to sell me the villa at cost- million dollars. This is a once–in–a–lifetime opportunity, Rose.”
Rose’s eyes widened. She knew villas in this area were worth over 7 million dollars. The deal was incredible. She couldn’t help but feel tempted.
Houston took her to the manager’s office. “Mr. Zander, I’ll take the villa in the prime location, but I’m transferring the ownership to someone else.
The manager welcomed Houston with excessive enthusiast, beaming widely. “Absolutely, sir. The CEO has already directed me to take care of everything for you personally.”
Without hesitation, Houston pulled out a card. Here’s the deposit.”
Rose quickly grabbed his hand to stop him. “Houston, this is about replacing my parents‘ house. It wouldn’t feel right to use
your money
Houston gently pulled her closer, tilting her chin up with a soft touch. “Rose, we’re married. My money is yours”

Houston glanced at himself–wearing a limited–edition suit and an expensive watch–and couldn’t understand how she thought he was just an ordinary worker. It must have been those rare occasions when his father forced him to work overtime that gave her that impression.
“Rose, if it bothers you that much, consider it a loan. You can pay me back later, he offered
Rose began explaining the civil code to Houston. “We’re already married, so my money is our joint property. If I use our shared assets to repay you later, that’s just transferring assets, which isn’t right”
Houston was left speechless. How could someone be so honest and straightforward?
Meanwhile, Rose thought Houston was the one being foolish
In the end, Rose couldn’t win the argument and reluctantly went along with Houston’s decision.
By the time Rose and Houston left the sales office, night had already fallen. Rose invited him to a hearty meal at a nearby food stall before heading home. Houston offered to drive her back..
Rose sat quietly in his car, but as they approached The Bloomingdale Residence, she suddenly asked him to stop: “Houston, just drop me off here.”
Houston looked at her, confused.
Rose explained, “Ethan moved in with Vivian. The other night, when we ran into him, he’d been beaten up pretty badly.
“Are you feeling sorry for him?” Houston asked, his tone calm as he studied her face. Rose’s composed demeanor made her emotions almost impossible to read.
Rose shook her head. “He thinks you were the one behind it and has been threatening to get back at you if he sees you. I don’t want you caught up in this mess, so it’s better if you avoid him for now,
Houston’s face tensed briefly, his lips curling into a faint smirk. Someone threatening me? How laughable.
“Rose, I’m not going to avoid him, he replied confidently. In Crestview, he was the one calling the shots. Ethan wasn’t even worth his time.
Without another word, Houston pressed the gas and drove straight towards The Bloomingdale Residence.
Rose silently prayed they wouldn’t run into Ethan and Vivian tonight.
Unfortunately, her prayers went unanswered.
Ever since Vivian got pregnant, Ethan had made it a routine to take her for evening walks around the neighborhood after
dinner.
And once again, Rose and Houston crossed paths with them.
Ethan spotted Houston’s car first. Furious, he charged over and positioned himself directly in front of the Mercedes, spreading his arms to block the way
Houston, unfazed, stepped on the accelerator without hesitation. As the car approached, Ethan panicked at the last second and leaped out of the way.
Rose gasped and covered her lace with her hands, too scared to watch.
When the car came to a halt, Ethan and Vivian hurried over, banging on the windows.
Get out of the car!” Ethan demanded.
Turning to Houston, he barked, “You were the one who sent people to attack me, weren’t you?”
Before Houston could respond, Rose stormed out of the car, fury boiling inside her. “Ethan, if you’re intent on throwing your life away with your reckless behavior, that’s your choice! But don’t involve my friend in your mess!”
Rose, who are you calling reckless?” Vivian shrieked, her face twisted in anger

“Whoever’s looking for trouble,” Rose snappeil hack coldly
As a doctor, Rose had little tolerance for someone like Ethan, who recklessly endangered his own life.
Hut to Ethan, her fiery reaction was only further proof that she still cared.

During their relationship, even the slightest mistreatment of him would evoke the same passionate response from her

Rose and Houston were left speechless.
