Cams.
Ethan arrived at the hospital and went straight to Rose, speaking earnestly, “Rose, I heard your family is selling the house You’re not doing this because of me, are you?”
Rose folded her arms, her voice steady and firm. “At least you’re aware enough to know that.”
Ethan had never anticipated that Rose would drift so far away from him. The thought of her gradually fading out of his life left him feeling deeply unsettled.
“Rose, is this really necessary? Selling the house over something so minor?
Rose cast him a cold glance. “My dad doesn’t want you affecting my mood anymore. He’s moving for my sake.
Ethan’s eyes landed on the real estate pamphlet in her hands, and his discomfort deepened. “What kind of house are you looking for? Don’t tell me you’re considering a downtown property. That area’s absurdly expensive. Does your family even have that kind of money?”
Taking the opportunity, Rose’s tone turned cold. “Ethan, since you know I’m buying a house, when exactly do you plan to pay back the money you owe me?”
Ethan’s face grew tense with embarrassment. “I already told you. Once I get paid, I’ll start paying you back little by little.”
Before he could finish, his phone rang. Without hesitation, he answered Vivian’s call, completely ignoring Rose’s presence.
Vivian’s voice came through the phone loud and clear. “Ethan, I saw a bag I like. It’s 2,000 dollars. Transfer me the money.”
Ethan glanced nervously at Rose and replied. “Vivian, stop it. I don’t have the money.”
But Vivian didn’t back down. She started raising her voice. “Didn’t you promise yesterday that you’d buy it for me? Now you’re backing out? How could you? You just got paid, and you still have that scholarship money. Isn’t that a few thousand?”
Rose’s face froze, her expression unreadable.
Ethan felt utterly humiliated, his voice dropping. “Rose is right in front of me,” he said, trying to give Vivian a hint.
Vivian, however, ignored him, her jealousy flaring. “Why are you with her? Are you still into her?”
Rose’s voice was sharp. “Don’t worry, Vivian. Trash is trash. Once it’s thrown away, there’s no picking it back up.”
Vivian was momentarily stunned into silence.
Rose added. “I’m only here to get back the money Ethan owes me.”
Realizing her blunder, Vivian quickly tried to recover. “Rose, you know I’m pregnant and really need money right now. Asking him to pay you back now is unreasonable.”
Rose smirked. “And it’s reasonable for him to use his ex–girlfriend’s money to buy luxury goods for you?”
Vivian struggled to respond but finally snapped. “Do you even have proof that Ethan owes you money?”
Rose rubbed her temples and replied calmly, “Sure. I’ll make a full list of every penny he’s taken from me over the years and file a lawsuit. Would that work for you?”
vian instantly regretted speaking. If Rose actually went through with it. Ethan’s reputation as a freeloader would be umpletely exposed, leaving him disgraced.
Ethan, frustrated with Vivian’s antics, finally lost his temper. “Vivian, just stop. Can you be quiet for once?”
Rose watched his outburst, shaking her head with a smirk. “Is this really what you settled for?”
Vivian could sense the overwhelming contempt Rose had for her and erupted in fury. “Rose, don’t even try to badmouth me in front of Ethan‘ He won’t believe you. Your behavior is completely disgraceful. You’re just being despicable.”

Ethan, contrasting Rose’s sharp intellect with Vivian’s clumsy behavior, felt a deep sense of unease. With a heavy sigh, he hung up on Vivian.
Rose quickly put the conflict with Vivian out of her mind and happily threw herself into work. During her free time, she called the sales office to schedule a house viewing for after work
Before she knew it, the day had passed,
As Rose prepared to leave for the house viewing. Linda called.
“Rose, your aunt has found a match for you. He’s a PhD graduate who studied abroad, three years older than you, and at perfect astrological match. He saw your photo and is very impressed. He wants to meet you after work.”
Aware of her marital status, Rose immediately declined. “Mom, I already have plans to view a house with a sales agent today. It’s in the best school district downtown, and there aren’t many units left. We need to act fast to secure one.”
Linda grew impatient. “Houses in Crestview are everywhere. Finding a good school district house isn’t a problem. But a good man is rare, and you can’t pass up this chance. You’re going to meet him today.”
Rose said calmly, “Mom, I already made a commitment to the sales agent. I don’t want to break my promise.”
Linda countered. “That’s easy. Tell me where you’re going, and I’ll send him to meet you there.”
Rose was speechless,
When she arrived at the property, a handsome man in a suit approached her and introduced himself politely. “Ms. Rose, I’m the match your aunt set up for you. My name is Jackson Roberts”
Looking past Jackson, Rose suddenly noticed Houston standing among the crowd, tall and imposing. Her heart skipped a beat as if she’d been caught in the act. She felt a wave of guilt and awkwardness.
What is Houston doing here?
Houston walked over with a brochure in hand, his expression sten. “Rose, who is this?”
Before she could answer, Jackson took the initiative to introduce himself. “Oh, I’m Rose’s blind date”
“Blind date?” Houston’s gaze turned cold as he looked at Jackson.
Jackson confidently turned to Rose and began to talk about himself. “Rose, I have a postdoctoral degree in architecture from Kingsford College. My hobbies include badminton, golf, and swimming. I recently returned to the country and now work as deputy director at Clarke Group’s design institute, earning over a million annually
Rose smiled politely and replied gracefully. “I’m sorry, Mr. Jackson, but you seem to have misunderstood. I’m not here to find a boyfriend–this meeting was arranged by my mom.
Jackson chuckled. “I thought that might be the case. But Rose, I must tell you, it was love at first sight for me.
Why don’t we
start as friends and see how it goes?”
“No,” Houston interjected angrily,
Jackson turned to him. “And who are you?”
Houston raised the brochure. I’m her sales agent
Noticing Houston’s hostility, Jackson smiled smugly. “Sir. Ms. Rose is a refined and accomplished woman. You don’t seem to be her type.”
Houston said nothing, but his anger was palpable.
