Houston’s lips descended on hers with an intensity that took her breath away. A wave of electricity spread from her lips, coursing through her entire body. Rose never imagined that a kiss could feel so extraordinary.
Even if it lasted for just a fleeting moment
As Rose started to pull back, thinking it was over, Houston’s firm hand found her waist, drawing her closer into his arms and deepening the kiss.
Time seemed to stand still. When Rose felt she could no longer hold her breath, Houston reluctantly released her, making it clear he wasn’t ready to let go.
He looked at the woman in his arms. her eyes brimming with a watery shine, full of tender emotions. Houston felt his heart sink, captivated.
“Rose,” he said in a deep, affectionate voice. “You’re surprisingly good at this.”
Rose, her face flaming, sat upright, avoiding his eyes.
The door suddenly opened, and the server stood frozen in embarrassment at the sight before her…
Rose quickly slipped out of Houston’s embrace, rushing back to her chair, embarrassed.
The server, visibly flustered, set the dishes on the table. Houston, displeased, frowned and asked, “Why aren’t robots delivering the food?”
The server felt like everything was falling apart. All she did was accidentally witness something private. Waas he really planning to dismiss all the staff just because of this?
Before leaving, the server braved Houston’s sharp gaze as he coldly reminded her, “Knock before entering next time.”
“Yes, sir.”
When the server left, Rose, still red–faced, timidly lifted her head. Houston chuckled, clearly amused by her shy demeanor.
This girl was genuinely sweet and naive. Despite having been in a relationship, her kissing skills were still clumsy. But that scumbag Ethan clearly didn’t recognize the gem before him. With just a little guidance, Rose could be utterly irresistible. Kissing her was an absolute pleasure.
Their meal turned out to be one of the most enjoyable they’d ever had.
After finishing their food, they stepped out of the private dining room.
In the main hall, the head physician and some colleagues from the psychology department were dining, Spotting Rose, the head physician immediately approached her. “Dr. Marshall, the patient in the VIP ward specifically requested you as their attending physician. Please handle the case now.”
Houston’s expression darkened as he interrupted, “It’s still hunch break. Doesn’t this hospital allow its stall to rest?”
The head physician froze under Houston’s piercing gaze. He had no authority to force anyone to work during lunch
After a moment, the head physician stammered, “R–Right, after lunch then.”
Houston’s tone remained sharp Dr. Marshall’s assignments should come from the hospital, not from the whims of VIP patients.”
The head physician had no response.
Rose gently tugged at Houston’s sleeve and said softly, “Houston, patient care has to come first in hospitals.”
Rose never negotiated her work. She simply nodded at the head physician and said, “Till go right away”
Relieved, the head physician stepped aside.

After helping Houston into his car, Rose rushed off to the VIP ward. Houston rolled down the window, watching her disappear into the building. His warm expression turned icy and calculating
It was clear Charlotte was challenging him.
Houston’s lips curled into a cold, wicked smile. Does she think 171 just let this slide if she thinks I won’t fight back, she’s sorely
Rose stood before the VIP ward door, taking a steadying breath before knocking.
“Come in,” came a languid voice from within..
Rose entered to find Charlotte lounging on the bed in a luxurious silk camisole, her eyes scanning Rose with a mixture of arrogance and amusement. “They say you’re a top–tier graduate with exceptional skills. Surely, Dr. Marshall, someone of your caliber can cure me. I had the director bring you here, so don’t disappoint me.” Her voice was filled with condescension, laced with a hint of mockery.
Rose replied cautiously, “I’m just an ordinary doctor without any special titles. Mistakes can happen. Madam Charlotte, 1 suggest seeking advice from a more experienced specialist to avoid delaying your treatment.”
She wasn’t naive. Rose understood that Charlotte’s request for her as the attending physician had nothing to do with faith in her skills. This was about finding fault, setting a trap, and blaming her for any errors. But Rose wouldn’t fall for it.
Charlotte waved off her suggestion dismissively and held out her hand. “Let’s begin.
If I can’t avoid it, I’ll face it head–on. That was how Rose approached challenges.
Stepping forward with her hands tucked into her coat pockets, she calmly said, I’ve reviewed Madam Charlotte’s case. You’ve experienced persistent fatigue, heart palpitations, a rapid heartbeat, and muscle soreness after strenuous activity. Despite extensive testing, the cause remains undetermined. The only irregularity was found in your electromyography results, leading some to suspect myositis. This hospitalization was arranged for a full genetic analysis, correct?”
Charlotte smiled smugly. “Well, at least you’ve done your homework So, Dr. Marshall, after all that reading, what brilliant conclusion have you drawn?”
Rose answered in a measured tone. “It’s not a brilliant conclusion, but I strongly suspect Madam Charlotte’s condition stems from autonomic dysfunction causing somatic symptoms.”
Charlotte scoffed. “And here I thought you’d have something extraordinary to say. Turns out, you’re just like the rest- blaming the nervous system when you can’t find an answer”
Remaining unfazed, Rose said, “If Madam Charlotte doubts my judgment, there’s nothing more I can offer.” She turned and began to walk away.
“Write me a prescription. If it works, I’ll believe you, Charlotte called after her.
“Neurological medications often come with side effects,” Rose replied, maintaining her professionalism while avoiding any missteps Charlotte could exploit. “From what I’ve observed, Madam Charlotte’s condition doesn’t seem severe enough to require medication yet!
Charlotte’s expression darkened. “I told you to prescribe something. Stop talking and just do it”
Reluctantly, Rose picked up a pen and wrote out a prescription for a supplement to aid with sleep and relaxation.
Charlotte glanced at the paper, crumpled it in her hand, and tossed it aside. “Is this some kind of joke, Rose?”
Rose met her gaze calmily “If Madam Charlotte cannot accept my treatment plan, I suggest finding another physician”
Charlotte smirked coldly “You’re the most defiant doctor I’ve ever met. I’ll show you that defiance holds no value against authority”
Rose shrugged indifferently, unaffected by the threat.
Fine Charlotte said through gritted teeth. Tll follow your plan”

Relieved, Rose began drafting a detailed treatment regimen with great focus.
Charlotte kept an eye on her and occasionally chatted. “Dr. Marshall, do you know Ryan?”
Without looking up, Rose answered flatly. “No”

Charlotte frowned, confused by Rose’s calm reply. Her expression made it clear she genuinely had no idea who Ryan was
After a moment, Charlotte reasoned that doctors often treated so many patients they could hardly be expected to remember every name.
