Chapter 6
Clayton shot to his feet, he trembled with rage and shouted, “What did you say? Say that again! Who’s being auctioned? Where is Angelina? Wasn’t she safe and sound in the villa last night? What were the maids doing? Are the bodyguards all dead?“}
His furious shouting scared the assistant half to death. The assistant explained, “Mr. Aiken … actually, Angelina didn’t come back last night. The maids said she went to bed early because they didn’t want to worry you. We really didn’t know where she went, we thought she just went out to relax for a bit… We didn’t expect this to happen today …”
All the blood in Clayton’s body went cold, he couldn’t believe his ears.
He asked, “She didn’t come back last night? What about the driver? Didn’t I assign someone to drive her? Why didn’t he say anything? Where is he? Drag him over here now! I’ll question him myself!”
He slammed the phone down, his chest rose and fell violently. His mind replayed everything from yesterday.”
After they left the hotel, Angelina said she felt unwell. But he was busy with work and had no time to take her to the hospital. So he asked the driver to personally watched over her.
He never imagined it would end like this.
The assistant’s call echoed in his ears. Cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
Could it be Sienna? But how could she possibly know someone from the dark web? Yet this was the only lead he had, it was impossible not to suspect her.
The next second, he pulled out his phone and messaged Sienna: [Do you know what happened to Angelina?]}
He typed again: [Do you know where she is? Was it you?]
He typed another text: [Sienna, I told you I’d marry you. That baby was just an accident. Why are you pressing so hard? Do you really want Angelina dead before you’re satisfied? She was your best friend! How did you become like this?]}
But after sending all three messages… There was no reply. Nothing but silence.
Clayton had never felt so panicked. This was his first child. Angelina was someone he had promised to protect. He couldn’t go back on that.
He stil! wanted to reach out to Sienna, still wanted to use his appearance at the wedding to force her to give in.§
Just as he was about to call her, the assistant dragged the driver into the villa.
The moment they met, the driver’s legs gave out and he dropped to his knees. He begged, “Please spare me, Mr. Aiken! I don’t know where Angelina is!”
He said again, “Yesterday she said her stomach hurt, so I took her to the hospital. But she never came out. I texted her and she said she had something to do. I didn’t think much of it. I figured you arranged to pick her up after work, so I just went home. Mr. Aiken, I really don’t know anything!”
Clayton’s eyes turned red with rage. He charged forward and grabbed the man by the throat.
The driver’s face quickly turned purple, he gasped, unable to speak a word.
Clayton knew, this was the truth. He let go in defeat, slumped against the wai
Ali he could do now was rely on his assistant’s investigation. He asked many questions, “Did they send any messages? Who did it? Angelina’s family isn’t local. Who could she have offended?”
