“Suzanne, give me an explanation.” Simon rubbed his temples and looked at me with disappointment.
I didn’t answer him, turning instead to ask.
“Simon, where have you been these past few days?“>
Simon cleared his throat awkwardly.
“I went abroad for a bit.”
I didn’t miss the fleeting hint of guilt that flashed across Simon’s face and bitterness welled inside me.
Was he really going abroad again, just like Julie said? Was he really abandoning me?”
I didn’t press him further; I just gave him a soft nod and turned to go upstairs.
“Suzanne, I need to give Julie an explanation for what happened today.“}
“Why did you hit her?“>
Seeing how serious Simon looked, I silently made a promise to myself:
I’ll give him one last chance. If he believes me when I tell him the truth, it’ll mean he isn’t planning to abandon me. “Do you know how I got this illness?”

“You’re not going to say it’s because of Julie, are you?“M
I nodded, staring at his face, watching his every expression closely.”
Disbelief was written all over Simon’s face. He was about to speak, but I cut him off.”
“The day ! was discharged from the hospital half a month ago, Julie put a needle in the back seat of the car.” “That needle contained a virus that caused me to get this illness.”
Simon sighed helplessly, his words laced with disappointment.
“Suzanne, I know you’re upset, but you can’t just make baseless accusations against people.“}]
took out the thin needle I had secretly swiped from Julie earlier and placed it in front of Simon.“]

Simon’s brow furrowed even deeper.}
“Suzanne, Julie isn’t that kind of person.”
“She’s not like you. All these years, her focus has been solely on work; she would never stoop to such petty tricks.“}
I suddenly looked up sharply. The Simon Ferguson before me felt so unfamiliar.”
“So, in your eyes, I’m someone who only knows how to play tricks?”
Simon didn’t speak, but his silence was the most straightforward answer.
Suddenly, I laughed as tears fell down my face.}
Simon seerned slightly distressed after seeing my state. His tone softened slightly.
“Suzanne, your illness isn’t serious; you’ll recover soon.“}
‘I’ll just pretend I didn’t see what happened today and stop making a fuss, okay?”
I sneered. it turned out that I was such a despicable person in Simon’s eyes.
I was good at scheming, unscrupulous and quick to slander others.
Everything I did today, in his eyes, was just me being dramatic.
I raised a hand to wipe away my tears, my voice stiff as I spoke.”
“Whether you believe me or not, I never slandered her and said anything to make her leave.“}
Simon was taken aback, looking at me with a hint of helplessness.
“Alright, alright, I believe you.”
“Suzanne, I have to go abroad on a long business trip. You stay home obediently.”
After speaking, he added, as if remembering something.
“Try not to provoke Julie. We’ll talk about everything when I get back.”
Go abroad?
I smiled sarcastically. Had he finally gotten fed up with me and was ready to leave?%
I hadn’t even noticed my fingernails digging into my palm. I took a deep breath and said, word by word. “Simon, let’s get a divorce certificate before you leave.”
‘I suddenly realized that I don’t love you that much anymore either.”
