Chapter Thirteen
Kason’s POV
Jake looked at me,remaining unblinkingly and cold. He didn’t even bother responding to me but spoke to his chief of security.
Never in my life have I felt so berated and ignored. Like a low life, my fist clenched around the heavily iron baton I had held for my protection.
Unable to hold back any longer, I ran towards Jake, intending to knock him down but his guards caught me and held me down to the ground before I could.
“Are you men useless, attack them?” But none of the goons I had brought made a single move to try and help me.”
“We’re, sir,y sir, but you didn’t tell us we were going to be fighting Jake Kingston. Everyone knows better than to get on his bad side. We’re sorry, we’ll return all of the money you gave us for your security.” The leader of the men said his voice shaking in fear.
Tears of frustration and embarrassment burned in my eyes as I was held on the ground; the goons quickly jumped into the armored truck and drove away quickly, hearing the sound of the siren in a far distance.§
“Cowards!” I screamed in anger as they drove away.”
The police van arrived shortly, “well get him off your hands.” The deputy sheriff said as I was handcuffed and dragged into the vehicle like a common criminal.
“Thanks, deputy,” Jake said as they shook hands.
I guess money ruled the world; I was just a measly millionaire, and Jake was a freaking billionaire in the numbers.}}
But even as I lay down on the bench in the cell I knew in my heart I couldn’t live with the thought of another man being with my Amara. Even if it costs me my life I would still fight for the woman I love.
“Get up, someone had paid your bail.” A police officer said to me.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, I hadn’t yet been able to contact my lawyer. When I was granted my one phone call privilege his number didn’t go through.”
Unsure I got up, and the cell was opened. The moment I saw who had bailed me I almost turned to go right back to the cell and stay there.
“What the heck are you doing here?” I said to Chrissy in anger through my teeth.
She looked bright,cherry and well. The very opposite of what I had been since she messed up my life.
“Relax, i only thought of doing a good deed. Your pathetic video is going around the Internet, and everyone’s laughing at you. Why did you choose to embarrass yourself so much for a woman who wants nothing to do with you?“}
I felt like strangling her for ruining me but I ignored her and walked away. What I didn’t expect to see was a crowd of people waiting for me at the station.
You would think they saw how unfairly I had been treated and came to support me.
But no, they were armed with placards with several horrible writings. Some say, “Detain him in there forever. He is a threat to Amara’s (Stella Brown’s happiness and safety.)}]
“Kason leave your ex–wife alone to live her life in peace“>
“Say no to wicked and vindictive men, Kason, leave your ex–wife alone.”
My legs almost gave way, they felt like jelly under the intense glares of hate of all the people standing outside. They hated me for what I had done to Amara. Little did they know I hated myself even more.
“I’m trying to apologize and right my wrongs. Don’t you people get it.” I screamed angrily at the crowd.
“Let’s get him.” In that instant, several rotten eggs and tomatoes were thrown at me, and I had to run away before they got violent.
Some still filled me running, and screaming. “Just wait till we get you, You’re an embarrassment to society.” Never in thirty years have I ever seen people actively fighting on behalf of someone else?}
I ran frantically, trying to flag down cabs but none stopped for me. What was even more infuriating was the police did absolutely nothing to protect me. They watched with looks that showed they felt this was what I deserved.
A black jeep stopped beside me, and desperate to escape, I entered without looking who was inside.
“Thank you,” I said, turning to see who my rescuer was, but I realized it was Chrissy again.
I punched the dashboard, rd leaving a dent, “Are you stalking me or something? Can’t you see that I want nothing to do with you anymore?”
She rolled her eyes, “Not thank.s I expected to save your life. Relax, I also wish I could have nothing to do with you too. But you’re the only one who can help me.”}
My entire being itched to get out of this car, but I knew what I’d face outside. “Chrissy, why are you so selfish and full of yourself? Of course, you help me in exchange for something; I don’t care that you saved my life; I’ll never help you do any of your evil deeds. ”
“It’ll be for your benefit; in return, I can give you the resources to help get Amara back. The truth is I wanted you, but now, I only want my company back from Amara; you can keep her.“}]
I detested the idea of having to do anything with Chrissy, but if we can work together, I’ll get Amara at the end. I’m willing to work with anyone.”
Letting
out a doen hroath I rocnand “What do you need my haln with and how would it haln me not Amara hark “M

Letting out a deep breath, I respond. “What do you need my help with and how would it help me get Amara back.”
“Good, now I have your attention,” Chrissy smirked darkly.”
She drove me back to my house and we went over her plan for over an hour. Maybe I was mad with desperation to get Amara back and embarrass Jake as much as he did.”
I found myself saying, “Yes, I agree with what you want. I’ll help you and you help me.””
