Chapter Eight!
Kason’s Pov
“Kason what are we going to do to handle this allegation? There’s a court summons we must answer.“>
She touched my arm and I flinched, “Shut up and let me think.”
She became silent, the obvious truth hung between us heavy in the air. There was nothing either of us could do; somehow, Amara had found out the truth and publicized it.§
We would have to face the full bunt of the law.
“I’ll call the public relations department. Maybe they can at least try to clean up and manage the situation. We’ll have to get our lawyers and answer the summons too.”}
More tears filled Chrissy’s eyes which irritated me further. This was all her idea; why was she trying to act like the perfect victim?”
“I guess we’ll get through this.” She said visibly calmer.
“I hope so.“}
–
The damage control our PRO team tried doing was just like a drop of water on a sizzling pan. The media ate us up.”
Especially, the court trials were even worse. Because of the weight of the evidence against me and Chrissy, we had no choice but to plead guilty and plead for a lesser charge.§
Twas beginning to miss Amira more and more. And not just because my life was under fire for my wrong actions towards her but I had never paid attention to the small details she had always done to make my life easy.
Tears streamed down my cheeks uncontrollably. Could Chrissy have been lying to me the whole time? Chrissy at the time had made me promise I’ll never confront Amara with the truth. And I agreed.
But didn’t Amara stop me from getting a high–paying job so I’d be inferior to her?
If that were the case, why did she be a good wife to me, and why did she care for me always. I’ll always come home to a clean house and hot home–cooked meals.
Worse still, it seemed my mother–in–law had washed her hands off us. Trolls have attacked the company’s reputation and credibility. Right now the company’s stocks that were doing well is now barely making it by.
The business partners had cut ties with us, all terminating partnerships with us, and even our suppliers had stopped selling to us. The company shares had deflated drastically and we are nearing bankruptcy.
My secretary stood at the door looking apprehensive, “Sir, I think you should look at this contract. We just got an offer from the anonymous CEO of Green Hollow Tech to buy out the company. This may be the only way for us to survive.“}
“Have you heard any news from the private investigator or the authorities about Amara.“}
He shook his head, “None at all sir. But I think right now you should focus on helping the company stay alive, sir, because…..“)
I flashed him an angry look that made him stutter on his words, “Drop the file and get out.”
I didn’t even bother looking at it; I technically want the boss anyway. It was Chrissy. She should handle this, I storm to her office to find she’s not there.}
I saw her file cabinet open, and out of curiosity,y I decided to go through it. I came across a file labeled confidential.}
I opened it, and my eyes filled instantly with tears of regret; there in the file was my approval for the job I had applied for years ago with my job application.”
Chrissy had hidden it from me and made it disappear from the system to frame Amara and make me believe lies about her.”
“What are you doing with that?” Chrissy eyes widened in fear and panic as she comes to her office.
“You liar!” I scream.
Chrissy shook, tears streaming down her face. “You don’t understand I had to; I’m sorry, please don’t leave me too. I have no one else.“>
I look at her in disgust, feeling the same for myself for all I had helped her do against Amara.
“We’re over Chrissy. You’re everything you said Amara was, thank you for ruining my life and happiness.“}
Chrissy fell to her knees, weeping exaggeratedly, but I was done with her drama.
I walked out. I had to get my wife back. I went to my office and grabbed my keys, to go to the police station again. Maybe they’ll have news for me.
“I’m sorry Mr Kason, there’s still no information on the whereabouts of your life. And legally, we can’t even divulge any information to you again without it being private. Don’t come back here on this again or we’ll have no choice but to detain you.”
“Detain me then, what do I have to do outside anyways.”
I said in frustration, I felt like this was a horrible suck Joke someone was playing on me.
The policeman laughed at me, “Don’t worry, I can see through your plan to get locked up to avoid the ongoing court case you have. You’ll get your wish soon enough when the judge sentences you.” His words brought a bit of reasoning back.§
I turned and left, all through the drive home, I kept thinking about what if I’m sent to prison for life because of what I did to Amara.
I couldn’t stop crying, my vision went blurry from the constant tears and exhaustion. I didn’t realize when I lost control of the steering wheel and crashed into a tree.
1/2 37.5%
It wasn’t till my head hit the steering I realized what had happened; passer bystanders ran to my aid, but as soon as they opened the door to help me.”
One of the men recognized me, “Isn’t this Kason, that horrible man who has done wicked things to his wife?”
The others looked at me scrutinizing me, “Yes! He is the one. Well, I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m not helping him. He is a criminal and deserves this.“>
“Yea.” everyone chorus in agreement.
“Please…help me.” I managed to say, feeling like I was about to pass out. But they don’t answer, they slam the door in my pass and leave me to my fate.
Was this how I was going to die? Before I succumbed to the darkness, I heard the distant sound of an ambulance.
I wake in a hospital,l but I shriek in fear when I recognize it’s the same doctor I got into trouble for terminating Amara’s pregnancy without her consent.
I was strapped into the bed, bound by tight leather belts.
“Oh, you’re awake.” He said, his voice sounded cold and distant. I shuddered in fear of what he was planning to do to me.
I looked around, noticing we were alone, “Where was the nurse.” I say cautiously.
The man laughed bitterly, “The next court hearing I’m definitely going to lose my license to practice medicine because of you. Before lose it, I’m going to make sure I harm you permanently.“>
I started sweating profusely, “Please, I beg of you, don’t do anything irrational. I have money I can bribe the judge…”}
My ramblings didn’t stop him from filling up a syringe with a weird–looking green substance.§
t’was shaking so badly I could hear my own teeth chattering; the doctor’s eyes were set and determined as he jabbed the injection painfully into my right leg.§
I screamed in agony; it felt like Indian; it was slow and painful. I felt my leg lose, feeling numb.
I continued screaming but no one came to my aid.
Just as I had lost hope, Chrissy came running in with many guards.
I blacked out due to the shock and pain.
