Chapter 69
Lily White’s fingers trembled slightly as she stared at the tablet in the staff member’s hands. With that footage, she could erase the evidence without anyone knowing.
“Miss White seems to have trouble with her hands. Let me help.” Ryan Paisley suddenly reached out and took the tablet, his tone eerily calm.
Isabella Jackson quietly picked up a water glass from the table, pretending she might accidentally spill it on the device—until she met Ryan’s sharp gaze. Her hand jerked, and the glass shattered on the floor.
“Miss Jackson, your hands are shaking quite badly,” Ryan remarked with a faint smirk.
“The water was too hot,” Isabella forced out, avoiding his eyes.
“Best not to touch things that burn you.”
Ryan fast-forwarded through the surveillance footage at sixteen times the speed. After watching, he tossed the tablet to Ethan Sullivan with a cold laugh. “Alexander, your girlfriend put on quite the performance.”
Lily’s face drained of color.
Ethan’s aura turned icy as he watched the recording. He hurled the tablet at Lily, the metal edge grazing her cheek before crashing into the wall with a deafening clang.
“Alexander, if you can’t control your woman, I’ll do it for you!”
Alexander King yanked Lily back as she tried to flee. His voice was glacial. “Tell the truth.”
In the hotel room, Evelyn Sullivan was packing her suitcase when Ethan burst in. The luggage was already zipped shut.
“Evelyn, I—”
“Save it.” She lifted her suitcase. “I won’t apologize.”
“I saw the footage.” Ethan’s throat moved. “I was wrong about you.”
Evelyn scoffed and tried to push past him, but the commanding voice of Grandma Sullivan cut through the tension from the doorway. “Let my Evelyn go wherever she pleases!”
“Grandma!”
“Don’t ‘Grandma’ me!” The elderly woman stormed in with her cane. “Evelyn was right to divorce you! A blind, heartless fool like you—good riddance!”
