Chapter 2
Right now I just wanted to pack my shit and get the hell out of there
1 headed toward the bedroom, but the second I opened the door, this massive Alaskan Malamute came barreling out at me.[]
I jumped back, heart practically pounding out of my chest.]
“Buster, come here!“]
Bree called out, and the giant furball obediently trotted over to her side.]
I’m severely allergic to dog hair, and I was already starting to sneeze like crazy.
Covering my nose, I yelled for Mason: “Are you kidding me? You brought a dog into my apartment! You know I’m allergic!”
Mason just shrugged it off like it was no big deal.[]
“You’re just being overly sensitive. If you’re around dogs more often, you’ll build up a tolerance.”
My throat was getting tighter by the second. I pushed past Mason and rushed into the bedroom to grab my allergy meds.
But what I saw inside made my jaw drop.
My once pristine bedroom looked like a tornado had hit it.
Clothes were scattered everywhere, my makeup was trashed and dumped all over the place, and there were muddy paw prints all over my white comforter. The whole room reeked of wet dog.]
“Cough, cough, cough…“]
I couldn’t stop hacking, tears streaming down my face as my body went into full allergic reaction mode.
A few years back, Mason had played with some coworker’s dog and came home covered in fur. I’d had such a severe reaction that I ended
He was terrified, swearing up and down that he’d never go near another furry animal again.
And now here he was, bringing a whole–ass dog into my home for Bree, not giving a damn if it killed me.
Mason and Bree heard me coughing and came into the bedroom.]
When they saw the disaster zone, they both just stood there like deer in headlights.
“Hazel, I’m so sorry about your room. This is totally my fault,” Bree said, putting on her innocent victim act.[]
up in the ER.
!shoved past her, stumbling to my nightstand to grab my emergency inhaler and allergy pills. My hands were shaking so bad I could barely get the medication down, but after a few minutes, I could finally breathe again.
I stared at this man I thought I knew and finally lost it:
“We’re done, Mason. Get out of my apartment. Both of you!”
“Hazel‘ There’s throwing a tantrum, and then there’s this. You really gonna threaten to break up over some drama?“]
Bree crept toward the doorway, head down, playing the wounded angel.]
Tra so sorry, Hazel..
“I had no idea Buster would make such a mess. I’ll pay for everything that got damaged, I promise.“]]
Then she stepped closer, lowering her voice so only I could hear:]
“If anyone’s leaving, it’s gonna be you.”
I thought I’d misheard her, but before I could process what she’d said, Bree suddenly let out this dramatic gasp and stumbled backward like she’d been pushed.]
“Ah!”
Mason immediately rushed to catch her.
That’s when the dog, who’d been calm this whole time, suddenly lunged at me and sank its teeth into my arm.
The pain was so intense I nearly blacked out.
“What the hell is wrong with you? Taking your anger out on treer
Mearm was atraming at me, company tenoring the fact that I was bleeding from a dog Wire
“Mesem. By okay Betting Hazel take her frustration out on the means she won’t break up with you, I can handle it.]
I couldn’t believe what I son hearing. This bitch was completely rewriting reality]
“So the room’s a Brile messy and there’s some dog hair. It’s just an ararsal – it doesn’t know any better! Bree already apologized and she’s being totally cool about it.“]
What more do you want? You physically attacked her are you trying to kill the girty]
Mason pulled free close, his voire dripping with disgust for me
you can’t handle having Bree around, then forget the wedding. We’re done.”
And with that, he scooped Bree up in his arms and stormhed out.]
