Chapter 29
According to the ancient rules of the wolf pack, any Alpha who failed a formal challenge faced
he harsh fate of permanent exile.
Ethan knew that he had to leave the pack he had ruled for years before sunrise tomorrow. There would be no mercy, no second chances.
At the same time, Scarlett would be thrown into the den of rogue wolves, left to face the brutal ustice of those she had betrayed and manipulated.
That night, the entire pack held a grand handover banquet to celebrate the birth of their new Alpha. The great hall was filled with the warm glow of torches and the sound of celebration.
All the pack members gathered together, raising their glasses in toast after toast to congratulate heir new leader.
sat in the main seat at the head table, accepting the genuine smiles and blessings from everyone. For the first time in my life, I felt truly respected and valued by my community.
To our new Alpha!” called out one of the senior warriors, raising his goblet high. “To Emma, who will lead us to greatness!”
The crowd erupted in cheers and applause. The sound was overwhelming but in the best Dossible way.
Cup after cup was raised in my honor. Plate after plate of the finest foods was brought to my
able.
But as the night wore on, I began to feel strange. A familiar dizziness started creeping through my head.
At first, I attributed it to exhaustion from the day’s events. The challenge with Ethan had beer physically and emotionally draining.
But soon I realized something was terribly wrong. This drowsy, nauseating feeling was far toc familiar.
It was exactly like the symptoms I had experienced when my adoptive father fed me poisonous nerbs for years.
My heart began racing with alarm as the realization hit me. Someone had drugged me again.
I tried to stand up from my chair, but my legs felt like water. I could barely maintain my balance as the room began spinning around me.
‘Excuse me,” I managed to say to the nearest pack member. “I need to step away for a moment.” Somehow, I made it back to my private chambers, though my vision was becoming increasingly blurry.
Through the haze, I caught sight of a familiar figure moving in the shadows. Ethan’s distinctive silhouette was unmistakable.
His eyes held a look of desperate madness that sent chills down my spine despite my drugged
state.
Just as my consciousness was starting to fade completely, an angry roar erupted from the other end of the room.
Chapter 29
7:45 pm D
The sound was followed by a loud crash and Scarlett’s high–pitched scream of pain.
I forced myself to stay conscious and looked toward the source of the commotion.
Scarlett had somehow been released from the Silver Prison and was in my room. She was attempting to approach an unconscious figure on my bed.
Grayson was lying there, clearly affected by the same drugs that were coursing through my system.
But his Alpha instincts were still partially active even under the influence of the poison. As Scarlett tried to climb onto the bed beside him, his leg lashed out in a powerful kick.
The blow sent her flying backward into the stone wall with a sickening impact.
“You filthy bitch,” Grayson snarled, his voice thick but still carrying murderous intent. “How dare you try to touch me?”
Even drugged and weakened, his Alpha pressure was enough to make Scarlett cower in terror.
Blood trickled from her mouth where she had hit the wall, but her eyes still burned with desperate ambition.
‘I just wanted to comfort you,” she whimpered pathetically. “You looked so vulnerable…”
‘Get away from me,” Grayson growled, trying to push himself up despite his impaired state.
Just then, I felt strong hands grab my arms and begin dragging me up from my chair.
Through my increasingly hazy vision, I saw Ethan’s face looming over me. His features were twisted with obsessive possession and manic desperation.
‘Emma,” he whispered urgently in my ear, his breath hot against my skin. “Let’s get out of here together.”
His grip tightened painfully on my arms as he continued his deranged reasoning.
‘Since we’re both going to lose everything anyway, we might as well face exile together. You belong to me, Emma. You always have and you always will.”
wanted to fight back, to push him away and scream for help. But the drugs had made my body completely unresponsive to my commands.
My limbs felt like lead weights, and my tongue was too thick to form words.
‘We can start fresh somewhere else,” Ethan continued, his voice taking on a dreamlike quality. ‘Just you and me, the way it was always supposed to be.”
He began dragging me toward the door, my feet barely touching the ground as he supported my deadweight.
‘No one will interfere with us anymore. No Alpha King, no pack politics, no distractions.”
Just as he was about to carry me out of the room, a silver blur rushed across the space like ightning.
Grayson had somehow forced himself to overcome the worst effects of the drug through sheer willpower and rage.
His eyes burned with fury intense enough to incinerate everything in its path.
‘Let her go!” His voice thundered throughout the entire hall, echoing off the stone walls with the force.of absolute royal authority.
