Christopher had exhausted all the goodwill I had for him. I came back with the food and put it on his nightstand. I’d gotten some for Sophia, too.
Christopher looked at me. “I asked Lorelei to explain herself. Did she?”
I nodded. “Yes, and so what?”
“Nothing. Now you trust that I’m loyal, don’t you?” He put my hand on his chest, and I snickered. I brushed his question aside and took a table for him. He could feed himself.
Christopher took the inch and ran a whole mile. “I’m a patient. Can you feed me?”
