Chapter Seven
Celestina’s Pov
I touched down in Paris hours later, unaware of the chaos I had started back at home. I had always wanted to come to París, but Jake refused, saying it was too cliche for a vacation spot.
It was that time of the year in Paris when the temperature was freezing cold. I quickly hailed a taxi, and he took me to the hotel I had booked earlier.
On getting inside, I ran straight to the bathroom to take a hot shower to keep my temperature up. My stomach made a rumbling sound, and I realized I hadn’t eaten all day.
I also hadn’t taken my supplements or medications. Sighing, I dialed the kitchen, asking them to send a hot meal up to my room.”
In no time, it was delivered; the food, although delicious, tasted like clay and cardboard to me because of the heaviness in my heart. I tried not to envision the celebration that Alexandrian and Jake must be doing after discovering the divorce papers.”
I managed to stomach half of the meal and stood up bed; I wasn’t going to mop around all day; I was a good half–day trip from
my country.”
I was going to sightsee; I wouldn’t take medication till I got back, or else it’d just knock me right out. I left the house.”
Standing in front of the Effiel tower surrounded by lovers kissing and hugging, I felt a sense of loss, my eyes filled unconsciously. I guess the whole world couldn’t grieve just because I was grieving; life moved on, and I had to move on.”
Pwiped the cold tears off my cheeks and walked away.
But first, I needed to stop by a pharmacy and show them my prescription. The last thing I needed was to run out of drugs and have paranoid episodes, especially now that I’m here by myself.”
Asking for directions to the pharmacy in my weak French, luckily someone understood my gibberish and pointed it out for me.” Stepping in, I greeted the attendant. She responded in English, and I sighed in relief.}
I handed my prescription to her, “I’d like to buy these drugs.“}
She eyes me cautiously, “Erm, sorry but since they weren’t prescribed here. You’ll have to see a doctor here, or else I can’t give it to you, and neither would any other pharmacist. The drugs are too strong.”}
“Oh,” I said, feeling panic set; how could I forget the drugs back at home?}}
She scribbles on a piece of paper, pointing it to me. “Here, this is the name and address of a reputable hospital. If the lines are too long, you can see a doctor once he confirms your prescription. I would be happy to help you out.”
“Thank you so much,” I said tucking the paper in my coat.
“You’re welcome.” She says with a smile.“]
I nod and leave.&
Getting back to the hotel, I change into my PJ, feeling restless; I turn in my cell phone and connect to the hotel’s wifi.” Several messages and emails flood my phone; I kiss my tee
messages they read:
‘pls baby, come back. Let’s work things out.‘
as I see they’re from Jake and my Dad. Out of curiosity, I open Jake’s
‘please just say something; you’re killing me,, baby. I can’t function without me
I closed them, they’re all lies anyway.”
I open social media to see what shocks me; several reposts of my family announcement that I’m missing and mentally unstable, offering a reward for any information on me.
Naturally, I’d have chosen to ignore it, but I was the CEO of my mum’s dynasty. My next of kin was Jake, if this was their plan to declare me Mia and take over.
I wasn’t going to let them; I posted on my timeline wall. ‘I Celestina is very mentally stable and fine, I’m not missing. Merely going through a divorce and need space from my family. Thank you all for your concern,”
Not waiting for any response, I turned off my cell phone and let sleep overcome me.
Jake’s Pov
Hours had passed and turned into days since I last saw my wife Celestina. The only response I had gotten was her post stating we were going through a divorce.
Social media was eating me up mercilessly, calling me irresponsible and careless. Some thought that was heartless to let my wife go through a divorce with her mental condition.
It was absolutely driving me insane; recently, out of desperation, I contacted a private investigator to find out where exactly she was, but all to no avail.
“Mr. Jake, you are being called to the CEO’s office.” My secretary’s voice made me jolt; I didn’t even realize she had come in.
“Tell him, I’ll be right there.” I stood up, taking a deep breath; I had a gut feeling the reason he wanted to see me was not going to be pleasant.>
